Shopping for scotch in Northern Europe? Hi r/scotch!
I'm getting married this summer and going on a Baltic cruise for my honeymoon that sails out of Amsterdam and stops in Skagen, Copenhagen, Tallinn, St. Petersburg, Helsinki, and Stockholm. Can any European users fill me in on the best options for picking up some scotch on my trip? I've heard Amsterdam is great for whisky. I really want to go to the Cadenhead shop but their website doesn't list a location in Amsterdam- did it close? Also if anybody knows, do any of the countries I'm going to refund VAT to foreigners? Thanks if you can help me out!

Cadenhead shop in Amsterdam closed like 10 years ago. A real shame. Amsterdam isn't really that interesting for buying whisky. The only (kind of) interesting shop in Amsterdam is [Ton Overmars](http://www.tonovermars.nl/). There are two great whiskybars in Amsterdam (L&B and JD Williams). For really great shops in the Netherlands you have to look elsewhere. Druiventuin in Leiden (www.whiskysite.nl) is great, or Whiskybase Shop in Rotterdam (shop.whiskybase.com), Van der Boog in Rijswijk (www.passionforwhisky.com) or Van Zuylen (www.vooreenmooiglas.nl) in The Hague are all highly recommended. They are all within 1,5 hour reach of Amsterdam.
