For a project I´m working on I´m looking for a nice cosy restaurant in Prague where the owner and majority of staff are also foreigners (aka expats or immigrants) and serve food from their homecountry. The best would be something rather new, exotic for Czechs (perhaps asian or latinamerican cuisine? But I´m open to anything cool), not too big, with delicious and authentic food and -that´s a very important point- with the owner or somebody from the staff willing to share their knowledge about the served food, the origin and history of the dishes, culture and traditions from their homecontry etc (ideally in Czech, English, Spanish or Portuguese, but in case of other languages I´m able to find an interpreter).   Presumably you mean 20-25 minutes and not metres from Smichov which therefore opens quite a lot of Prague up. Perhaps the closest decent one I've been to is Curry Palace up near Letenske namesti which is about 20 mins on the #12. Lal Qila on Italska in Vinohrady which is obviously much further but probably less than 20 mins from andel by tram as well. There is a branch of Indian By nature close to Hradcanska station which will be less than 20 mins. I've never been to that one but their restaurant over near Florenc is my favourite in Prague so hopefully the Hradcanska one is of a similar standard. Hope that helps!

  The 'non-buffet-lunchtime' food from Indian by Nature is great. Also, the Pind probably has the most authentic 'going out for a curry' sit down experience.

  Indian By Nature definitely #1 (although never been for their lunch buffet so can't comment on the quality of that compared to their excellent a la carte offerings). Lal Qila for me is in second place. I can go to either of these and order something different each time and not be disappointed. An honorary mention for Curry House at palmovka, they have some great dishes - the Chicken Jalfrezi i think is the best in Prague, the Rezala also good but some of the vegeteble dishes disappointing, so #3.
