I need a vet, but I’m having issues finding one who will do what I need.
My cat is a polydactyl, and his 6th claws are causing issues. I do my best to keep his claws taken care of and clip them regularly, but he has GREAT claw control. I do NOT want him declawed. I only want his extra ones removed. They’re extremely hard to clip. I can’t really see where the quick starts and it causes him pain when I try, so it makes me nervous.
I can’t take him to a pet “salon” because most of them also have a hard time finding the quick, and some, quite frankly, have no clue what the hell they’re doing and now he freaks out when we step into them.
All I can find are vets that will only fully remove all of his claws. I’m not interested in removing anything other than the claws that are curling under and causing problems; there is no reason.
Anyone know an ethical practitioner who’d be willing to help me out?
