  Kirsten Fotty-Fentroy: I have a 2 year old bulldog that I rescued from the SPCA. He was healthy for the first 8 months or so since we got him. He however has been sick for months and the vets keep saying nothing is wrong. His bowel movements are full of mucus and he can not hold it over night anymore. He is now on a diet of rice and ground chicken which was working for a week or so but is not working for him anymore. He has also developed hot spots ( way worse than normal) behind his ears. I have spent so much on vet bills and can't afford anymore but I am desperate to get my dog better. Does anyone know of free or low cost services? Or has anyone experienced this before?

  Cathy Landry: HELP! SOS! My rescue pit bull (3 years old) just had her ACL operated on this past Thursday. She went to the vets to have her wraps removed yesterday and all looked good. I've had a concern since Friday, though, that she's not eating, drinking a little, and has not urinated outside at all. She does urinate in her sleep (I have her sleeping on a puppy training pad) but she is holding it and not going. I take her out every two hours but nothing. Her leg is swelling and bruised (which they said is normal) but the swelling seems excessive and it is hot to the touch. She's panting like crazy and I am so worried. It was $3k for the surgery and I literally am using change to put gas in my car to go to work tomorrow. I'd take her in to the emergency hospital next to Centinalia (near pch and ximeno) but have no $. Do you know a vet or anyone who can give me some free advice so I don't go out of my head with worry tonight? I haven't slept all weekend-been taking her out every two hours hoping she'll pee...and I can't miss work tomorrow. We had this done Thursday thinking she'd be at least stable by tomorrow, but it is getting worse. I'm a teacher and can't miss tomorrow...grrrr. Any advice would be appreciated.

  Diana Hershey: I need a good reasonably priced vet to take my dog to (in/around Long Beach). She has hurt her leg and will likely need an X-ray. She also has a chronic sinus problem and three different antibiotics haven't done the trick. I am cash only and have a bit of savings for her care but it is not limitless. Golden State doesn't do xrays
