Help/advice needed - I don't know many sax players, as I have been working on me tod (not part of a section) for many years, so don't get a chance to have these geeky chats.
I have been using my own 'adapted' mouthpiece by creating quite a high baffle with blu-tac, this creates a very bright sound which is super loud, and great for punching out clear harmonics and punchy attack in the upper register. (but a bit pony in the lower register)
However, due to the nature of blu-tac I am constantly having to re-shape it and of course I then get inconsistencies with my tone, and always questioning, is it the reed? is it the sax?, is it the bleddy blu-tac?
I am intending to sort this once and for all and am after a super bright sound.. I don't play jazz - so after than cutting noise for pop, funk/fusion etc.
So - does anyone know of a mouthpiece doctor that can adapt my own, OR help me reccomend a mouthpiece that suits my requirements? (Dukkoff I hear you shout)
Sorry for the ramblings, but many thankings and pleasings.
Steve (apologies for lengthy message and over use of (brackets)
