  Hi everyone! We just moved to Canton this past weekend. Can anyone suggest any family friendly activities or places to check out with a 6 year old? What about dog friendly activities? Thanks :)

  Dana Hodo - Hello & welcome to Canton! I am an "older Cantonite," but I grew up here & moved back & raised my kids here. (now 18 & 21) U already rec'd some great suggestions & I would also: 1) Go to the Canton Public Library (786 Washington St/781-821-5027) - They have a great Chldren's Library downstairs, have activities all year for kids & librarians up/downstairs are helpful/informative about local events. 2) Right across from the library, is the Town Hall - up on a slight incline/statue in front. Anyways, when you first enter through the heavy beautiful old wooden doors, there is a table to right w local Canton info, good for "newcomers." 3) On 79 Pleasant Street, is Pequitside Farms - not a "specific dog park," but a wonderful place for your dog to run, there are also nice walking trails, a playground .... & as mentioned already, check out the Canton Parks & Recreation Dept - it's right across from Pequitside on Pleasant St. - ppl in office can tell you about all the summer programs for kids ... Or you could just go "online," - CantonRec.com - I guess I'm showing my age! Ha Ha & lastly, in any Walgreen's or grocery store ... - pick up a copy of Canton Citizen - weekly town paper.   Check out www.cantonrec.com. There are drop in programs at Messinger, Kennedy & Devoll fields. For children under 6 the parent needs to stay. But this a great way to meet parents & children in your neighborhood. It's M-F 9:30-2:00.

  Looking for some suggestions: my daughter is 3 and starting preschool at cck in September. I want to sign her up for some activities. Maybe dance, gymnastics, and/or maybe some type of art class or anything other parents suggest. I'm a working mom so looking for something with flexible hours. Can anyone suggest a great dance class or other activity, preferably near-ish the Cobbs corner area where we live? I really appreciate ANY suggestions. Thank you!!

  I got this brochure put out by the park and recreation dept in the mail a couple of weeks ago. Not sure who to call for one (maybe www.cantonrec.com) but it has a ton of activities in it.
