After years of commuting on my beautiful but slightly knackered '78 Dawes Galaxy tourer, I've blown my credit card on a brand new Trek FX3 hybrid. It cost £800 which I know isn't megabucks in the scheme of things but it's a lot for me. I'm thinking about getting it insured - I wondered if anyone else has their bike insured, and if so \- can you recommend a reliable insurer \- did you add on liability insurance I've looked at moneysupermarket and it seems like premiums start at about £50 for the year (including £1 million public liability cover), which seems decent, but there seems to be quite a lot of small print - for example, I keep my bike in my shed in the garden, which is locked, but with at least one insurer, the bike would also have to be locked to an immovable object inside the shed itself for the insurance to pay out if it was nicked. Any thoughts welcome.

  https://www.velosure.co.uk/ I went with these guys. I mainly got insurance for the public liability being as I commute on mine (although saying that I never see a soul). I've got up to 10 million pounds in liability and then legal costs. Think it costs me about £4 a month. Edit I lied it's £5.26 a month for £2 million liability.

And also do they really check if you put clothes, helmet etc. in the bike box or can you just say its 'padding'? (I'm only taking hand luggage so was hoping to get as much into the bike box as possible...)
