Anyone recommend a good dentist, who doesnt stuff a rubber grommet into your mouth as a prerequisite to doing any work, and - (i know this is a long shot) doesnt charge the earth? I would be happy without the grommet!

For many years we have used Robert Foster who is in Tweed Heads 07 5524 8888. He was recommended to us by a local breast feeding councillor who'd had great service from him for her teenage daughter. Very gentle, great with kids and isn't too expensive. He used to have a practice in Casino and at one time worked out of Brunswick, but left them because he thought they charged too much. He is also a metalurgist who stopped using amalgam before just about anyone else did and was one of the few (years back) that would take them out for you safely. He can also advise about the use of a retainer for kids and can sometimes avoid or reduce the expense of braces later on.
