Erica asks: Is there a natural path doctor in the Council Bluffs/ Omaha area who can help my baby with vomitting? She is 6 weeks old and has a big spitting up problem... I breastfeed her, and after every feeding I have to hold her upright for about 30 minutes to help her stomach settle before laying her down for her nap or for play/ wake time. I always lay her on an incline too. I burp her frequently throught the feedings, and give her gripe water when she seems to be in pain, which seems to soothe her, but not always. I also give her gas drops. Sometimes I'll think her stomach is settled and she'll be asleep, then an hour later when she's sleeping sometimes, she'll start making horse-type noises so I'll check on her. It usually means she needs to burp, so I'll burp her again (that works a lot) but other times she projectile vomits cottage cheese type stuff and chokes on it so I have to help her get it out. It's exhausting and scary to watch and deal with, and I have been following all the advice of my pediatrician. The next step would be Zantac or something of that sort, but honestly I'm worried about it damaging her stomach and causing longer issues... I want a natural alternative other than just gripe water. By the way, she IS gaining weight quickly and is actually ahead of schedule for her age. She always soaks and dirties many diapers all the time, so I KNOW she is getting what she needs... It just seems like so much spitting up that I don't know what's normal and what isn't, and that cottage cheese stuff from her stomach is what scares me. Is it normal??? What else should I do? I'm really worried about her.
