Anyone ever shipped a dinghy abroad, ie Topper to....Australia.
How was it arranged, ideas of cost, who does these jobs. Ideas please, i know people ship boats abroad for championships but i dont actually know anyone who has done it recently.

We, Fireball Class, have used "Peters & May" (based Eastleigh) on many occasions for shipping GBR team to events world-wide (I also believe RYA use them); very helpful individuals who will have lots of advice and probably ideas for piggy-backing onto a larger shipment. http://www.petersandmay.com/

Peters and May do it, but your best bet would be to find a class having a championship there in the near future and see if you can hitch a ride in their container. I suspect otherwise it would be cheaper to buy a boat out there.
Morning All,
I am a real newbie and am about to dip my toe in the water and import my dream '66 Mustang from the States. Obviously a little wary of this as I am buying potentially unseen (although I've seen pics and video). I have a few questions that you guys may be able able to help with:
1) Any recommended container shipping companies?
2) Has anyone had success at negotiating the 5% Import Duty for 'historic' cars over 30 years old with Customs? Any hints or tips to secure this?
3) Sending a lot of the money to a dealer on trust is a big worry - any tips or horror stories?
4) Any other advice as I am pooping myself?!
Many thanks :-)

Hi Blair, suggest you email jenny at Peters & May Global Logistics. My corvette was imported on historic basis and it was very straight forward. She will handle everything for you. her email is jenny@pm-gl.com.
