Toronto, Canada Data Recovery? Can anyone recommend one (or more) professional data recovery businesses in the Toronto area?
I have a USB Seagate backup drive that is having some issues, so would like to avoid tinkering on my own and just have a pro recover the data.
A few of the companies I have contacted seemed a little...well, fishy, so any recommendations would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Luke at [www.recoveryforce.com](https://www.recoveryforce.com). Highly experienced and reasonably priced.
Looking for Data Recovery Company in Greater Toronto Area Can someone recommend/refer a data recovery company in the Greater Toronto Area (Canada)? It is for a failed RAID, have the drives, need to get a couple files back. Looking for a reliable company.
Thanks!

https://www.recoveryforce.com/ These guys are in Guelph will only charge if they recover files. I have used them many times. They only like dealing with MSPs so they might offer discounts to an MSP. Doug and Luke are great! (They own the company)
Looking for data recovery in NY City area .. Short:
Not my disk, asking for someone, I need a reputable place I can refer him to in NY City area. **I do not need software recommendations**.
5 TB disk. Several file recovery tools tried, only Stellar (bwegh!) finds some data using 'deep scan'. He's specifically looking for Sony RAW (ARW) files.
Thanks!

I can't think of anyone that's reputable I've heard of in NY. Most over there are just mailing stations for the companies out west in places like California. We could certainly take a look at it for you here in Providence (https://www.data-medics.com). A few other labs that post here often and are reputable: [Recovery Force](https://www.recoveryforce.com) - in Canada (good exchange rate right now). [ESS Data Recovery](http://www.datarecovery.com) - a few locations around the USA
Data recovery service? Hi!
We have some SD chips with cracked casings but we are hoping the data inside is still good. We also have some old old laptops. All of these devices have important pictures we would love to recover. Can anyone recommend good data recovery services for this purpose? If you have used them, roughly what did it cost?
Thanks!

For the laptop, I assume they don't power on? You could probably remove the hard drives pretty easily and buy a cable from Canada Computers to connect it to USB on your computer to back up the hard drives. I am curious if they are able to recover the SD cards for you. I hear sometimes they will try to buy an equivalent card to be able to just take the data portion and put it into another card. Common with USB sticks. I think I found these two recommendations earlier in the year off the Reddit data/backup forums when looking to help out my brother in law. Guelph - https://www.recoveryforce.com/ Another option - Datarecovery.com has a location in Toronto too.
Click of Death - Looking for DR service, help requested. I dropped my laptop and experienced the click of death.
I am currently in the Tri-Cities, WA area and am looking for a skilled data recovery company. While I would like to not spend too much I am willing to pay what is needed.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for finding/vetting a good data recovery company in my area? I have not seen a FAQ or sticky for that here (though I could very likely be blind and not see it).
Thanks for any help you can offer, & please have a nice day.

Might have to ship? [Recovery Force](https://www.recoveryforce.com/) and [Data-Medics](https://www.data-medics.com/) have tips that are in the sidebar and regularly provide useful advice in this sub, as does [ESS](http://www.datarecovery.com/). (I'm not affiliated nor recommending, just an observation.) Most repair shops don't have a clean room or skills for mechanical failures that require taking drives apart, and thus send HDDs to their preferred service.
Please recommend a data recovery company in NYC I have a USB drive that can't be recognized on my computer. Can someone recommend a data recovery company in NYC that will be able to (hopefully) get my data back?

When you say USB drive, are you referring to a USB hard drive or a USB thumb drive? I don't know of any trusted labs in New York, but can refer you to a few labs represented by active members on Reddit: /u/kt_datarecovery_com/ (www.datarecovery.com), /u/DataMedics (www.data-medics.com) and me (www.recoveryforce.com)
