Yoga has helped me in my life more than I ever imagined it would. I partied hard in my 20s and 30s and was usually the drunkest one at the party! Looking back, I think I did this as I was deeply unhappy with myself and thought drink and drugs were the answer. But through yoga I came to simply accept myself as I am and my need to get so ‘hammered’ decreased. I didn’t realise doing asana and pranayama would have such life changing affects!! I have been practicing yoga since 2001 and gained my 200 hour teaching certificate in 2013 with the amazing Katy Appleton from Apple Yoga. I had done her DVDs for years and knew if I wanted to teach I would have to learn from Katy as I respected her so much and loved the way I always felt so amazing after her classes and I wanted to be able to pass that on to my own students. I have been teaching ever since and am passionate about passing on my knowledge of this beautiful ancient system to others. I absolutely love teaching and enjoy making my classes fun & accessible to everyone, (my youngest student is 13 and my oldest is 91!) I continue to grow as a student and a teacher of yoga, taking workshops with Kathryn Budig, Faith Hunter and Annie Carpenter. I have since gained Teacher Training qualifications in Yin yoga, Restorative Yoga, teaching yoga to those in larger bodies, Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs , Yoga Nidra ( Yogic sleep), Teen Yoga and am currently studying a diploma in Thai Yoga Massage with the incredible Kira Balaskas.
Hi, I'm wanting to start Yoga and would like some recommendations for a beginners class. I'm a little overweight and have suffered with lower back pain for sometime but need to get active! Thanks guys

Hi Amy, I have a bad back and I go to Annie Kelly, she is brilliant with people with injuries, she offers lots of alternatives. She teaches at Pentire Hotel and Swandive and I think she has a new beginners class starting soon. https://www.facebook.com/akellyyoga?fref=ts
