Hi everbody!
I am looking for a driving school which gives courses in English to convert my license to the danish one. Could you please recommend a good and cheap school...

Right! Thx, it was this https://www.politi.dk/NR/rdonlyres/2E1A6E27-C9C3-4BF4-9A34-C33B10F18C30/0/Retningslinier_2013_KLAR.pdf

Whenever instructor Nis Nissen (recommended by Kommune for English services) has a full class ready for theory exam they run a theory exam in English. It is a CD that asks the questions in English (only spoken, no written so that can be challenging). I highly recommend signing up to do practice tests online as the questions are asked in a very peculiar way, even though the theory is simple. For the practical test Nis can provide you an interpreter for a fee (it must be an approved interpreter, not just a friendly Dane). Also they are considering becoming more flexible with the rules if you have a non-EU licence for transfer, maybe your consulate could help with that topic. Once you start the process at Kommune they should give you a temporary Danish licence for a total of 2-3 months. Once this period is up hopefully they have processed the papers, and you are ready to take the theory tests.

Are you from the EU? Then you don't need a Danish Kørekort. It says you can have it changed to a Danish one if you want, though. All of this needs you to have a place where you live and are registered in Denmark. If you are from Australia, Brazil, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Russia, Switzerland and Ukraine, you do not need to change it, but you need to show them a lægeattest - a doctors writing that you're fine to drive, from your own doctor. https://www.borger.dk/Sider/Fra-udenlandsk-til-dansk-koerekort.aspx <- if you have any questions about this, feel free to ask.

While we are on the same topic...I am also looking to get my license changed to Danish. here is a link with useful information: http://www.businessregionaarhus.com/da/Living-in/Society-and-economy/Driving-licence/Non-EU-countries.aspx. I have a question though...the theoretical and practical tests are both in Danish :O ... TRUE!???
Manuel C. replied:
Emad Samuel if you are an EU citizen, you can continue to use your current license. Be aware though that if it expires while you are a resident of Denmark you can only change it in Denmark. You can find more information for EU citizens at http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/vehicles/driving/validity/resident_en.htmMariam Bintehassan as the link you posted says, the exam will be in Danish, but you can have an interpreter. It will cost more as you have to pay for the interpreter. Basically what happens is that a person will be present at the exam and translate for you every question and direction you get.
Rebecca G. replied:
Quite apparently, as it says: Both the theoretical and the practical test will be in Danish. You have the option of bringing an interpreter to the tests. The interpreter must have been approved by the police. Citizens’ Services can help you find an interpreter. But on another page it said that there's also a teori test in English https://www.politi.dk/da/borgerservice/korekort/udenlandsk_koerekort/Udenlandske+korekort+ombytning+og+turistkorekort.htm#SubHeader1 So I'd make sure to ask Citizens Services- they can help you with a lot of things.

Can anyone recommend a good, affordable driving school? Also, anyone have an extra English version of Danish traffic rule book lying around? Thanks
David C. replied:
when it's close to your written exam time, it's worth investing in a course like this to practice. The exams are worded in a VERY SPECIAL way.... https://prove.dk/teoriprove-teoribog-teoriprover/application-en-GB/

I used Nis Nissen at koraarhus: http://koraarhus.dk/eng/ to convert a U.S. license to a Danish license. If you're converting a license from another country, this is an affordable way to go about it -- you get access to a couple of in-person class sessions and practice tests, online access to a ton of theory tests, plus help arranging the practical driving test. If you're starting from scratch and needing to learn how to drive and get a license without converting one, then I am not sure what is the most economical school.

I would read this article first: http://www.justitsministeriet.dk/arbejdsomr%C3%A5 der/faerdsel/koerekort/udenlandsk-koerekort and I know then you can just "exchange" your drivers license for a fee of 280 Dkk depending on the country of origin.
Britt T. replied:
Hey I am from the US but I think our rules are the same. I am in the process of converting my license as well. I went to my kommune and they took my american license and gave me a Danish temporary license for 3 months. We are not required to take a certain amount of lessons of theory or practical, since we are converting. So if you feel confident you can pass it on the first try you are able to just take the theory test and practical test (both which are free the first time). I suggest taking a few practical lessons and theory lessons to get comfortable with the Danish driving. I go to Kør Aarhus with Nis Nissen he offers a package for people converting. I paid 1890dkk for unlimited theory lessons and computer tests (he has cheaper options) and then pay per lesson for practical which is 450dkk.
