Are any LOCAL/AFFTON restaurants doing a Dine-Out event for Officer Snyder/Family/Backstoppers etc? I see ones in Alton and O'Fallon MO - where are our local businesses...
Here's the list for Nov. 1... it's possible more places could sign up too. http://www.ksdk.com/news/local/local-restaurants-to-hold-dine-out-night-for-officer-snyder/333380891
Ok Affton heroic historians: I'm going through some of my father's old things (at his request as we may be moving in the Springtime) and I came across this interesting...
Phyllis K. replied:
Went there for dinner graduation night from High School and many other times it was such a cute place:(
Mike D. replied:
Ok the original (hard scrabble) aka Grants Cabin was on Rock Hill rd. In St. Paul cemetery. There is marker . It was bought and moved around until the Busch family bought it and put it on their property. The original site was about 100 yards from Ellsworth Brehans front door. He lived at the corner of Gen.Grant lane. And Rock Hill rd. He owned General Grant Shopping Center and Grants Cabin Restaurant. Back in the day, General Ulysses S Grant and his in laws Owned a huge amount of land in that area. He and his wife Julia Dent didn’t live in that cabin very long before moving into White haven.

Looking for restaurant or bar and grill that cooks corned beef ( not deli style) for a good Reuben sandwich.
Marsha D. replied:
Just had one the other day at Affton Cafe. It was good. New owners, better food.
Linda M. replied:
Crown Candy has a great Reuben, Breakfast and Burgers is pretty awesome too.
Robert M. replied:
The Reuben is one of my favorite sandwiches and I have tried them all over the St. Louis area. The best one I have ever eaten is at O'Shays Pub on 4353 Manchester Ave. in the city. The corned beef is not sliced thin like a deli sandwich but is cut 'thick' and is all made in house. Fantastic!!!
Anyone know what is going in at the old Forreys restaurant? There were trucks there yesterday and today. This would be on the southwest corner of Heege and MacKenzie.
Is there a decent priced space for rent for an event in the area? Any halls, commercial space or restaurants? Thanks
Karen M. replied:
The Masonic Hall at Gravois and Heege rents their space out. My church is meeting there on Sunday mornings and I know they have wedding receptions, etc.
❄️ I'm looking for a take-out restaurant or gas station (relatively nearish the Grasso Plaza side of Affton) that has that tiny, chewy, pellet size ice.
