Hello Kathy don't need to save any, they're Carpenter Ants, and do not caulk that area please!, you will just make them chew an exit hole, unfortunately ant baits won't work, give me a call At EZ GREEN Pest Control

As Dennis recommended, do not caulk where the ants are coming from. We used Allied last year for carpenter ants and they were great. http://www.alliedpestcontrolrepair.com/
