The U.S. Wage and Hour Division can be contacted in Montgomery at (334) 223-7450, in Birmingham at (205) 536-8570, or in Mobile at (251) 441-5311. Their website is: http://www.dol.gov/whd/.

Whoever she work ed for is the one who owes her the money. Once an establishment has changed hands it is not the new owners obligation to pay for past employment nor is it her obligation to pay prior debts UNLESS the new owner agreed to take on the prior owners debts (which is highly unlikely as that would be a really stupid business move). Your daughter needs to send a certified letter to the previous owner and document where she has requested her money. She also needs to contact the department of labor (federal) because Alabama does not have a wage and hour board. I have included a link below with information directly from the source: https://labor.alabama.gov/Wage_and_Hour_Info.pdf

Please do not download legal forms from the internet. They are vague and often are contradictory in an attempt to be multi-state friendly (I AM an attorney, even though I didn't sleep at Holiday Inn last night). In fact, you can download video showing how to do an appendectomy, but I wouldn't suggest doing that for yourself either, lol.

Need recommendations for legal services to have a will written. Anyone know of someone who is reputable and reasonable?

We used Katherine Barr with Sirotte and Permutt. She is in Birmingham and is quite familiar with wills and trusts. She specializes in law related to special needs.
Rose C. replied:
Jeannie Clegg Jones is local. She did my will, helped me as my husband was passing. Then she did a lot for me with my dad, he had everything in such a mess. Which included at 87, getting himself scammed. Geesh! +1 (205) 422-3050.

Annette Forbes, I can help guide you through the will and as well as how to fund it properly and will make sure it's all done right. I have several lawyers that we use that will give you discounts. Katherine Barr is excellent at special needs wills and trusts and is the only certified lawyer in the state. However, if special needs is not a concern, there are several other options that are less expensive. Give me a call and let's talk. 205-739-1567.
