I highly recommend http://movingon-ny.com They moved me and all my many things up from Westchester to Albany. They were about half the price of movers downstate. Wasn't an easy move either, long uphill walkway w/ 2 flights of stairs. The 2 guys went beast mode and we were done by 2 pm.

ABF U-Pack or Pods is the best way to go. I've used both over the years and haven't had an issue with them yet.

Don’t use anyone unless you vet them at protectyourmove.gov first. It’s a notoriously scammy industry. PODS and such are definitely much less risky way to handle moving IMO.

We used Any Day Movers last August. They were almost half of what our other estimates were and did an awesome job. It helped that we had moved most of our boxes out of the basement and attic into the living room and porch so that took a lot of time off of the hourly charge.

Please for the love of all contact DOT to make sure whoever you used is licensed and insured before you pay anything. There's some serious moving horror stories all over news by gypsie moving co's.

If you wait too late to get movers and everyone you call is booked (I've had that happen before), there's also the option of renting a Uhaul and then ordering movers through that website. You have to drive the truck though. I've done that a couple times now and both times worked out well.

We used Mabey's and were happy. Coworker had good things to say about Lamanna. Our move was a furniture only move...we moved all the contents and other stuff ourselves. They came in and did all the furniture in about 3 hours end to end.

Erin used Mayflower Movers for the Cincinnati move. They are nationally known and reputable. Watch out for lowball quotes from shady companies because they find ways to raise the price after quoting the original cost.
