We use [Sharon Gregg](http://www.sharongreggcpa.com/) to do our tax returns every year. If you need a CPA for anything beyond your tax returns I don't know how good she is, but if you're with H&R Block right now she's much better and costs less for tax returns. We used to do H&R Block for our returns before our friends told us about Sharon and we'd never go back.

We use Rahim, http://rahimgillanicpa.com/ he's up in the heights and has been great for me for the business and personal for years.

http://www.johnhowardcpa.com/ has a great staff, especially if you need more than just basic tax returns. If you have a business or more complicated personal financials (investment income, estate taxes, trusts) they're someone to talk to. Clay does my personal taxes (basic stuff) and never had a problem.

Depends on what you need, Baca and Howard are great, I have a guy there (clay) that does my stuff, always been happy with them. The partners are almost always in the office able to answer more obscure questions as well.

I'm currently using Oracle VirtualBox <https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads> on Windows to do some Linuxy things. I've never tried it on OSX, so I can't say how good or bad it is. I also haven't used VMware in a LONG time, so I'm not sure how the two compare. We use it because it's free.
Jason P. replied:
Also, I've never used it, but this is free so may be worth a look: https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/20830/q-emulator

Well you could run Libre Office and switch accounting programs. Or run a different flavor of VMware.

better read economic times or business related news.. than reading about politics. It will take you through shit hole and you would still won't able to take sides, unless you have already taken a side. Reading about economic ventures helps you understand impact of policies and also the positive attitude bussineses taken on policies. One would understand real opportunities. Rest everything is propaganda of either side.

It's natural for sources to have inherent biases. What you should be looking for in a news/information source are factual accuracy and editorial standards. If you have an 'unbiased' source, that routinely spreads fake news and hate content. It is better kept a mile away.

Mildly curious what makes someone a "cool CPA". Is that code of some sort for being OK with shady accounting or cheating on taxes? Or just someone who is relaxed and fun to interact with? Not sure I've ever heard that trait highlighted in a CPA.
