Does anyone know where I can get a electrical cord for a old Singer sewing machine? I'm guessing 1940ish.

Email Cindy Peterson at stitchesintime@earthlink.net. She has a FB page, Stitches in Time Sewing Machines, Parts, and Supplies. She only accepts orders at the email address, but she has a mini catalong on her FB page. My favorite sewing machine, the one I use most, is a 1948 Singer 201-2, the "old black Singer sewing machine" most people think of when you say vintage. I bought it 3 years ago and it needed a new cord set. l got that, a new bobbin winder tire, and a dozen new, high-quality bobbins from her for much less than I expected. I have ordered from her several times, and she is prompt and very knowledgeable about vintage machines.

Try Sew Classics and Sewing Parts Online. They both sell parts for old machines.

Ben Steinlage, who did you call? Pat Torivio, at first it stopped draining. My husband replaced the drain pump and the regulator pump and cleaned out the hoses. It still wasn't draining although at least it didn't leave standing water in the machine, so after more testing, he determined the motor wasn't working properly. We replaced the motor assembly (came with motor control panel) and then all of a sudden, it won't stop filling up the machine and it's still not draining. It is a front loading Maytag older model. My husband has followed the troubleshooting in the actual repair manual but doesn't understand why its still not working and keeps developing a new problem for every one that he fixes.

A. Dale Danielson831-5554. I can't swear he hasn't retired, but this guy was great when he fixed our freezer. He was honest and said that it might not last long because of the age of the freezer, but it's still working today. Makes house calls too!
