Corner of State St and Beechwood Ave looking east toward the Virginian Restaurant on the far left

I worked the night shift at Kuntzman Trucking the summer of '64 and would go over to the Virginian for my late supper.

I believe Gary's Colonial House sat right around the area of where Big Lots is now; pretty close to there. And other than Holiday Pool, I don't recall ANY other businesses out there; circa 1966.
Don B. replied:
I believe Gary's Colonial Restaurant was where they later built the LK restaurant. State st back then had a lot of homes on it. I do remember Akins Carpet, The Alpine Motel, Myers Molasses, Walters Heating and Cooling, Holiday Pool and a miniature golf place next Holiday pool. I believe there was a furniture store across from Akins Carpet as well.
Any suggestions for a nice restaurant (that's not super expensive) for Ronnie and I's anniversary?
Alexa M. replied:
Strip Steakhouse in Avon. I used to work there its like 4 and half stars. I pretty sure they have some meal for two type thing for $80. Its two filet mignon, apps, bread, and desert.
