Hello everyone. :) My daughter will be 4 at the end of this month and I was just wondering if anyone could offer an opinion and/or information on preschools and...

We've sent our boys to St Paul Lutheran near hot dog heaven. I really like it! I've heard St. Peter's in Amherst is good too! Just a little FYI, preschools are filling up fast because registration starts in the early spring. Try to make a decision quick:)
Amy R. replied:
St. Peter's in Amherst. 985-1972. The teachers are wonderful, organized, and very patient with the children. They have openings for their T TH classes. $90 per month.

I'm partial to St. Peters, but I'm a trustee there. The Teachers are extremely dedicated to their program and their students. https://www.facebook.com/pages/St-Peters-UCC-Amherst-Preschool/254380534602728

St. Joe's is great! Mrs. Calabrese and Mrs. Houstn are wonderful teachers. Had 2 kids go through 2 years of preschool each there. Very organized and they constantly learning.

Avon Montessori is probably going to be your closest option for Montessori, but My daughter goes there and it is absolutely AMAZING!!! and they have summer camps so you could even send her for a week this summer and see how she/you like it. but my best advice would be to go and look around and see how you feel about every option. I toured about 6 places and either the kids looked unhappy to be at school, or they were just playing and not really learning anything if I wanted my kid to play like that id just keep her home! lol Monetessori is a little different because the kids think theyre playing when really they are learning and enjoying learning.

I agree with Amy about St. Paul. I have two children my first we sent to St Paul and my second we sent to Country day school. My first came out ahead of the curve and was more prepared for regulars school. The school is closed for the summer so here is the church office number tel:(440)988-4157 good luck.
I am moving to Amherst in mid Nov. I have a four year old that I need to enroll in a preschool. Does anybody know of one that would still have any openings?

Well I can't inbox you from an iPad so her name is Krystol and her number is 440-371-5329. I have some other friends who are with the Murray Ridge programs who are able to help too, but start with Krystol. Good luck! Let me know if you need anything else.

Heather, contact Behavioral Intervention Institute of Ohio in Westlake. I used to work there before I took a position at Monarch in Shaker Heights. They take kids 3-22. It's strictly ABA. The staff is wonderful:-)
Michelle P. replied:
I asked a friend who works for an autism program and the following was her response - Unfortunately our program is pricey. I know we offer scholarships but I dont know the details. There are a few other programs, STEPS and Monarch School. Some School Districts are more flexible with programming as well. If the district can not provide, then they will often pay for CCCA(71 k).
Lesley M. replied:
Look into Children's Development Ctr on Dewey rd. My son attended there for 3 years and I would highly recommend. Not sure if classes are still held there or at Amherst schools.
Any suggestions on preschools who take 3 yr olds? Starting to look for this spring.

We use Brilliant Start. Been there a year. Have really liked it. My daughter did preschool there. She has learned so much. Her letter recognition and sounds went to 100%. They taught some beginning math and learned odd and even. Brilliant Start is by giant eagle.

We took our sons to Country Day School in Amherst years ago, and my niece and several other children we know went there as well. Great programs for the kids and caring, respectful teachers. They are now located behind Marco's Pizza on Rt. 58 in Amherst.

What are some places I can rent out in Amherst for a preschool birthday party? I only know of the Beaver Creek facility but would like a bigger space for active children.
Marie C. replied:
Studio Q does photo shoot parties. The kids can bring costumes or dress up clothes and pretend to be models. There's plenty of room for pizza and cake, etc. 320-1699
I am looking for a 2 year old mommy & me preschool class that is within 20 minutes of Amherst. Does anyone know of one? Thanks!
Alicia H. replied:
Amherst Preschool Club, MOPS of Amherst, Ohio, and http://www.meetup.com/The-Duke-of-Comets-classes-of-2024-2025-2026-2027-2028/ (not necessarily "classes", but these are 3 of the area groups that do a lot of fun activities, playdates, outings etc.)
Can anyone give me information about preschool at powers. I've looked on the website and can not seem to find any thing. Maybe I'm not looking in the right spot. Thanks...
Sarah Y. replied:
Brittiany Nicole Gardner, yes, they still have a preschool. They serve both students with and without disabilities. Peer models have to be 4 years old by August 1 st and go through a short, informal screening process. I do believe they still have openings for this school year but I am not 100% positive. If you would like more information, you should call the board office or Powers MAY be open starting Monday (not 100% sure),
