Quick Question, Does anyone know if the dentists in town accept apple insurance? And if so, who would you suggest? I have a fear of dentist so any help would be awesome!...
Sandra H. replied:
Love Drs Kari & Nick Wilson, not sure about the insurance thing. 901 8 th street, Anacortes
Karla L. replied:
Dr. Huntsinger on Commercial (by the fabric store) does, but he has a long wait, so try to get in now. He is the only local one I could find. They list the dentists that do on the state website.
Dee D. replied:
I have to say, I have the best dentist in the Valley, but she is in Mount Vernon. I went to her first, because I had an emergency on a Sunday several years ago. She came in, sat across from me and looked me in the eye and showed genuine concern. I was hooked right then. Her name is Janette Carroll, and the number is 424-0123. I NEVER had a dentist spend that kind of time or focus with me. When I first got to Anacortes, I went to a guy that was recommended, and he was rude and took onlyi about fifteen minutes with me and turned me over to his minions. Will NEVER go back to him, but have been VERY happy with Dr. Carroll..
Kim M. replied:
Semar oak harbor for Adult dental, semar MV for kids. They are great with my kids I go to Oak Harbor for me because the wait in OH for adult appts is much shorter. ( Semar Dental is great...the medical is horrible though)
Mary K. replied:
Dr Huntsinger has been great for me. Very friendly and helpful.
Dee D. replied:
REgarding Dr. Carroll in Mount Vernon. She usually makes time for emergencies pretty quick. Think you would be happy with her, and how quick she can be.
Trinity A. replied:
I've been both to Dr. Huntsinger and Seamar in Oak Harbor. I saw Dr. H. years ago, when I was on a regular dental plan, and then went to SeaMar for several years during my pregnancies. My experiences with Seamar were horrible, and I felt like they really milked my insurance. They wouldn't do more than one thing at a time when I went there - so, exam was one visit, another visit for cleaning, possibly another for x-rays, and extended visits for tartar removal. I've never seen anything like it, but I thought it was my only option. Since I live in Anacortes and my kids were not yet in school at the time, it was horribly inconvenient, but I was thankful to get any care at all. I just went back to Dr. Huntsinger this year. Apparently he took my insurance all along, but for some reason I didn't realize that. I honestly didn't love him in the past, and preferred to seek out a "gentle dental" type of clinic, with nitrous, but I didn't want to go off island, so I tried him again. I was very impressed and was so glad I went back to him. He's no frills, but he does most of the work himself, and his ultrasonic tooth cleaning instrument is amazing. He hardly had to even scrape my teeth at all, which of course made me happy. He was even able to repair an old filling in the same visit. I was very pleased, even without all of the comfort measures. I'd definitely recommend trying him again.
Dr. Huntsinger's Family Dental Care downtown...
Anyone who is currently receiving care there (or has in the past), would you recommend them?
I'm looking for a dentist...
Matt E. replied:
Our family have been going to Dr Huntsinger for a while now and have had no issues.
Trevor H. replied:
I'd recommend Dr Wilson. Best dentist I've ever been too. And he goes the extra mile. I had my insurance about to expire and he had me come in after hours to do some work before I lost my insurance.
Bev M. replied:
Recommend Dr. Madden. Excellent!
Devvan S. replied:
I loved Dr. Huntsinger. He was the only one who took my insurance also. I had a very large fear of the dentist & it was made worse when people told me bad stories about him, but I had no choice & I was pleasantly surprised! He was very gentle and very understanding of my fear. He got the job done quickly & gently. I will go there again.
Alyssa S. replied:
I have tried a couple dentists in town. Dr. Collins and his staff are the only practice I would recommend. (They are on 22 nd and M) The level of care is amazing and the staff is just beyond wonderful! http://www.skagitsmiles.com
Trinity A. replied:
I'm guessing you have Apple Health, and if so, Dr. Huntsinger is the only dentist in town who sees adults that is contracted with that insurance. To my knowledge, the only choices in this region are Dr. Huntsinger and Sea-Mar. I've been to both and would recommend him over their clinics every day of the week. I've seen him at various times in my life and haven't had any actual complaints. He was courteous and professional, and I was happy he took my insurance. That being said, his office is bare bones - no comfort measures, x-rays are not digital, I think they may not even use computers for scheduling (not sure if that has changed or not). But, the dentistry itself was fine. He even removed my wisdom teeth with no nitrous or anything, and I survived.:) Now, I work in the dental profession, and I love working for Drs. Kari & Nick Wilson. I'm sorry that we're not contracted with Apple; we will work with patients as much as possible to help meet their needs, but I do understand cost is a major factor for most of us.
Deborah S. replied:
My parents have been going there for years and years and have received good care. My son had a crown on his front tooth that had been done quite poorly by another downtown (expensive) dentist. It was grey and popped off twice. Dr. Huntsinger correctly extended the posts and made a new tooth that now is the correct color, to boot! He is very good about emergency visits and is a caring man. Huntsinger also charges $450 to Apple Health patients for a crown. Other dentists charge upwards of $1,000. I suggest you go down and meet the front office ladies and discuss an appointment.
Ruth H. replied:
Mathew Gifford on 6 th and O ave is good
April-Brandon C. replied:
I would not recommend going there. I have found that he'd rather extract a tooth than fix. I suggest Perry dental in MV. they are fantastic & they take a very wide range of insurances.

We just went to Dr. Damon for an orthodontist. Our dentist is Dr. Collins but since it changed back to United Concordia they don't accept it. It is too bad because I love that office.

One of my teeth broke off -- it was weak because of a root canal and a cap. My dentist has referred me to an oral surgeon in town, Pardeep Brar, for an implant. My...
Amanda A. replied:
Dr. Brar is great! He took out my wisdom teeth (I was 29) and my husband's along with a bone graft and implant after a weak tooth cracked on him. We both had great results and zero problems
Lori H. replied:
It will depend on your insurance. Mine pays 50% for that procedure. Dr Brar is fabulous. I do know a few who went to Dr Gifford, general dentist and were very happy. ..in case you want a 2 nd opinion. He does it all...so a 1 stop deal?
Carol J. replied:
Dr. Phillip Madden on Commercial is THE best in Anacortes. He does reconstructive surgery, does everything. He participates in Drs. without borders ( I think that's the name of it). I knew he was going to be my dentist of choice when he gave me the shot between the jaw bones and it didn't hurt! My kind of dentist. Called him "Golden Hands". Seriously, the best and nicest I've ever had.
Rachel S. replied:
I went to Dr. Brar for a cracked tooth extraction. I was in extreme pain and he was able to fit me in last minute after his already very busy day. He is one of the best oral surgeon's I've ever been to. He has a wonderful "bedside manner", he was very gentle, and I has minimal swelling/pain afterward. All of the staff there were also wonderful! Kindness and compassion from all!!
Bud B. replied:
Don't shortchange your health, your future depends on it. Pradeep Brar is an excellent oral surgeon with the most up to date technology to assist him and as previously stated by others... You get what you pay for. I am very pleased with the work he did for me.
Annie M. replied:
I went to Dr. Brar about a year and a half ago, and he was great. I don't think his prices are crazy. They seemed reasonable to me. About a week after my extraction, I was still in pain and he saw me right away and fixed it up with no additional cost.
Jan T. replied:
I used to work in the dental field. You can surely call various oral surgeons for price on dental implants. Usually, they need to examine patient to see what circumstances are involved. It's not like going into Home Depot & getting the best price on an implant. Actually, I have been a patient of Dr Brar's. His price for surgical extraction was less than the general dentist's. And, because oral surgery is his specialty, it was quick & nearly painless. He counseled me as to what to expect, & aftercare. His office is very well equipped, his staff is professional & puts patients at ease. Prices often fall closely in line w/ other oral surgeons in the area..if you have insurance, prices will be very similar. I have found that in the case of oral surgeons & heart surgeons, cheapest is not necessarily best. You are looking for an excellent outcome. Dr Brar took over Dr Ron Pinson's practice. I must say, Dr Pinson chose his replacement well!
Pamela K. replied:
Dr Bear just removed a problem fractured root canal and did a bone graft. Another oral surgeon had attempted removing it and failed. He was a cake walk for him...... and his staff is great. I agree.....tho I did not think his prices were high.....u get what u pay for.
