Help, I need a dermatologist, does anyone have any opinions for either of the ones located here in Eagle River?
Becky R. replied:
Dr. Moreland does
Sam-and M. replied:
Jane Fortson is the best!
Cindy B. replied:
Jane Fortson in Anchorage.
Stacy H. replied:
WOW! Dr. Jayne is expensive
Joan H. replied:
Dr. Fortson
Roxann K. replied:
I go into Anchorage. Dr. Moreland, excellent. Meadow Creek, turned me off of Eagle River's dermatologists
Becky R. replied:
Meadow creek or dr. Moreland. Dr Fortsons bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired. She also focuses on selling product and doesn't bill insurance
Kirsten L. replied:
Meadow creek dermatology is not a dermatologist. Dr. Weiss at valley dermatology doesn't require a referral and his rates are very affordable. If you call them they Willet you know approximately how much it will cost and you will be seen sooner than any other Derm in town. Most of them are booked out for months.
Best Dermatologist in Anchorage? Go! Kristin Foger Eastman seriously need to get up here already!!!
Danielle T. replied:
Dr. Senter is great, but I don't know if he is taking new patients or not. I've been to the Alaska Center for Dermatology twice and wasn't super impressed...
Kimberly W. replied:
Dr. Senter is that who you saw Charmion Schroeder?? Danielle Shaw Tolosa my face is acting like a hormonal teenager. It's awful and getting worse.:(
Shannon T. replied:
I saw Dr. Janine Miller. She's with Dr. Senter. Very good, very nice.
Teesha N. replied:
Kimberly Westervelt …… you have a MEDICAL ESTHETICIAN in the family!!! Call the office tomorrow, I'll get you in ASAP. We can't have you breaking out, that's just silly. Plastic Surgeons of Alaska 563-2002. Like us on FB AK Beautiful You to stay updated on new skin care procedures and specials ;)
I see: Thomas P. Senter, M.D. 636 Barrow Street, Anchorage, AK 99501 (907) 276-1315 He is great:)
Danielle T. replied:
I saw Dr. Senter years ago, but I think he might be mostly in retirement and not taking new patients. There are several good docs there though, just don't know their names. I had a mole removed from the side of my nose at AK Center for Derm and they did a good job, but they've never given me a good fix for my terrible eczema on my hands and the front desk ladies can be moody.
Danielle T. replied:
Yea the office is nice and they have a thing for Dr. Seuss lol. Maybe it depends on who you see and what for...dunno
I have not had good experiences with the doc at Meadow Creek Dermatology in Eagle River. I've gone a couple times and will not ever go back. But that was just my experience.
Ruth M. replied:
I went to a female doc at Alaska Center for Derm at Prov and wasn't impressed. My family has a history of Melanoma and went in for a skin scan plus to look at a particular spot, now mind you I have spots all over me, she looked at one close up and then did a quick 10 second scan of the rest of my body and that was that. I didn't feel confident that I had a thorough "look at". She was maybe in her 50's can't remember her name but I didn't feel confident.
Roxann K. replied:
Ask to see Dr. Moreland. He checks my spots once a year. He's burning off the ugly ones as he checks. It doesn't take long to check. If you have a suspicious spot show him. Ask questions.
Michelle F. replied:
I went to Dr Senters office. Waited over an hour after my scheduled appointment (with my 2 year old in tow) Then was rushed through my appt by the practitioner I saw. I will not return there!
Can anyone in the Anchorage area recommend a good dermatologist? Also, I have a set of studded snow tires (for my Toyota Rav 4) that I would like to sell. Anyone...
Shirley W. replied:
Robyn...I saw Peter Ehrnstrom at Alaska Center for Dermatology...he was great...
I've heard she's ^^ good. I've seen Dr. Sexter who's ok. I don't recommend Dr. Cusack who works for Ak. Dermatology. Me, my sister and my mom all had strange experiences with him.
Valerie H. replied:
Dr. Fortson, Sarah Lutz can vouch for my before and after
Chelsea R. replied:
*Dr. Senter
Randi N. replied:
Margaret O'Reilly for sure!
Jenise N. replied:
Not Jane Foerster she was all about use this and come back. Come back. I had like like 5 appointments and she miss diagnosed. After the 5 appointment she realized she was treating the wrong problem.
Heidi S. replied:
I second Dr. O'Reilly. I worked for Dr. Fortson back in the day (when her and Dr. Oreilly worked together). Dr. Fortson is a brilliant physician, but has horrible bedside manner. She's not the nicest person around. If it tells you anything, I have always sent everyone to Dr. Oreilly, and that's who I see myself
Looking for recommendations for a reputable and good dermatologist, thanks.
Marcie M. replied:
Bloom Spa only opened up because Dr Elrod was the overseeing dr of his wife, a midwife whom a baby died while in their care. And lost all rights at the hospital!! (Feel horrible for the family.) He is NOT someone I would be going to that doesn't have the proper schooling for this type of "care." Dr. Jeffery Weiss is who my kids go to.
Chrissy S. replied:
I have been to Dr. Weiss and I liked him. Previously I had gone to Dr. Cusak in Anchorage and it was the worse experience I have ever had with a doctor.
Sarah T. replied:
Bloom would be a great place to Start. Dr. Elrod and his team are awesome and I know a number of women who have had him and his wife delivery babies. Josh does work for them and says they are great people and would recommend anyone to go to them.
Serena E. replied:
Go to bloom Dr. Elrod and his wife are amazing people and he's a good doctor and he is thorough and only expects the best results! I bet you'll get far with Bloom.
Amanda E. replied:
Dr. Elrod is a great doctor. I love their office. It's nice and clean in there. The nurses are so friendly. They don't judge you. It's a great place. I have also seen Dr. Weiss in Wasilla he's a dermatologist he's in that white building across from McDonald's I believe. I referred my mom to him.
