I, also, have a new resident moving up...

Pet Stop Riley Wilson
Jane T. replied:
Yep! Pet Stop!!
Tammy K. replied:
I use both Dimond Animal Hospital & The Pet Stop. I'm sure after spending for vet care on my two dogs, Diamond Animal Hospital could have built a new wing onto their building by now. I swear I've spendt well over $9,000 on one dog - with no end in sight. Sigh. Love knows no cost - oops, I mean no bounds.... grin emoticon
Kate D. replied:
Diamond Animal Hospital - Dr. Elton. Hound Lounge for daycare and boarding!
Karen H. replied:
I really love Arctic Tails Doggy Daycare and I agree with The Pet Stop and Diamond Animal Hospitals.
Debra M. replied:
Dr Paul Fredrickson at Hillside Pet Clinic on Abbot has taken care of our dogs for about the last 18 years and they have shown so much compassion in our time of need. I have had to call our vet at home on some weekends when I have had a sick dog and t his vet has always been there for you coming into his office just to do chemo on one of my dogs on his days off. I could go on and on about this vet and they have people come in from Big Lake and Girdwood--need I say more???
Kc W. replied:
I personally wouldn't recommend Dimond Animal Hospital. You never know who you're going to get because they have so many vets there. I now go to Highland out on Old Seward. Very good staff and vets on board. As far as doggie day care I'd only recom mend two because I know them personally. Dog Tired on Fireweed, and Arctic Tails off Abbot Loop. Arctic Tails does do boarding as well, Dog Tired does not. Both great choices.
David J. replied:
The Pet Stop.
David J. replied:
We've used Pet Stop/Riley Wilson and others for the past 30 years. smile emoticon
Melissa D. replied:
The Pet Stop - prefer Dr. Palmatier.
Emily L. replied:
I go Alaska Vet Clinic off Fireweed and take my dog to Dog Tired Doggie Daycare. (Don't know why it didn't tag, but they have a Facebook page too)
Looking for a decent vet? We just moved up and have three cats we want to transfer records for. What are the vets I should look at around here? We have them caught up on...
giraffewoman replied:
The Pet Stop, especially Dr. Riley, is the way to go.
cossiander replied:
I've switched to Ravenwood a few years ago and have been really impressed. But they're in Eagle River. Probably a bit more of a drive than what you're looking for.
wyowill replied:
Alaska Veterinary Clinic. I ended up taking my pooch there when she had some complications and got great service when our prior vet wasn't making the grade.
playwhaat replied:
Ak Vet Clinic on Fireweed! They’re amazing

I take my guy to Pet Stop (or shop?) across from Fred Meyer on Dimond. South/west Anchorage. There's a vet that specializes in cats. I don't take my bird anywhere after his vet retired. Anyone have a suggestion?
ElectronicFerret replied:
Depends on where you're at in town I'd say! I use VCA Bering Sea. They do boarding as well. My cat is always happy as a clam when he comes back.
Is there a way to get emergency vet service on Saturdays?
Alissa J. replied:
835-5704 only emergencies
Rebecca S. replied:
You can also call Dimond Vet Clinic in Anchorage, they have a 24 hour emergency line! I've called a few times when I've had questions or needed information outside of the vet hours. 1-907-562-8384
I'm looking for a new vet for my furry family members. Who do you guys use and recommend?
Christine N. replied:
I agree with Jim Henry^^^ I heard lots of great things about them and they have tons of vets and some of them specializing in different animals like our guinea pigs. You can read about all their staff on their website http://www.diamondhospital.com/
Sheena J. replied:
I am with Bobby Brown Ak Vet! I love Dr. Linquist! She was so supportive and caring during Bubba's about with heart problems & cancer.
Cat B. replied:
We're at Hillside and we've been there since 2008 but I just don't feel the service is personal and they're expensive. Our cat's been to Diamond Animal Hospital many times, I thought it was emergency services only? I was thinking Chester Valley since it's close but don't know anyone that uses them...
Jim H. replied:
Diamond Animal Hosp on Tudor next to Mc'D's - open 24 hours and great service. We use them 100% of the time now.
Mathew S. replied:
Diamond Animal hospital on Tudor
Deantha C. replied:
Cornerstone is hands down the best. It's sort of midtown, on Tudor between lake pita and Seward highway set back from the road. Dr. Rapp is incredible and I'd probably take humans there if it was an option. He is so great for Hank.
Chris R. replied:
Pet Stop on Dimond definitely. Been going to them for years.
The Pet Stop has been wonderful with both our dogs and cats.
Stephanie W. replied:
College Village Animal Clinic, Dr. Capitan. Our family has been using them for a long time, they are very kind and caring. Even the front desk is very knowledgable and can be very helpful over the phone with questions.
Leslie S. replied:
Southside Animal Hospital. 345-1905. Been using the Docs there since 1989.

I haven't taken my dog to the vet in Anchorage yet, but when I go, I plan on going to this place which was highly recommended to me by some local folks that I definitely trust: http://www.aksouthsideah.com/index.html
Any good, low priced veterinarian clinics in town where I could have my sweet Pepper boy's wound looked at without getting raped? Or tips for keeping it clean so it...
Can anyone with a dog recommend a good veterinarian that is open on weekends or later evenings? And or good puppy day care in town?? Wont have enough time to take Packer...
Jenna R. replied:
Cornerstone animal hospital is the only place to take your pets. Open from 7-7, M-Sat. The BEST vets (3 drs total) and staff. On Tudor.
Chad C. replied:
As far as I know yes. Bruton is a bully breed and they absolutely love him to death. Never once have they brought up an issue with it, and I have seen many other pitbulls in there at the same time as us. My family has been using Hillside Pet Clinic since before I was born and we love them.
Jessica J. replied:
Pet Stop on Dimond is the best place in town, in my opinion. And any place that isn't "okay" with certain breeds should not be in business, that's absolutely ridiculous.
Chad C. replied:
I take Bruton to Hillside Pet Clinic on Abbot Rd. Great people. Love them as a vet, wouldn't ever change.
Lindsey B. replied:
Robert Weird Beard Gillespie he just needs to get a regular vet and some shots to go to puppy class
Looking for some help on a couple of things...

Ravenwood Veterinary Clinic for the Vet, They do a wonderful job with all kinds of animals. Grooming is great too.

Ok everybody,
Looking for a good vet in Anchorage to take Mr.Taco to.
Any and all suggestions MUCH appreciated :)
Marcus G. replied:
VCA Clinic on Lake Otis, by 36 th! Where our pups go.
Andrea T. replied:
Pet Stop on Dimond. Love them.
Erika D. replied:
Dimond Animal Hospital! I would NOT recommend College Village unless you're going there for reptiles.
Andrea T. replied:
Nope they close at 6 but are open Saturdays. Dr. Riley Wilson is amazing. We chose to euthanize my family dog there a few years ago, they are not only reasonable but super compassionate. Great place to go in Anch. However: There are shot clinics once/twice a month if you call around. This can be the most economical way until you find a practice you want to stay with. How old is Taco?
One of my cats is sick (I think). Who can recommend a good vet in Anchorage?
Holly N. replied:
Southside Animal Hospital. All vets are excellent. Dr Schmidt is who we see, but she is scaling back her hours. We just saw Dr Heather (goes by her first name) and liked her.
Alyx M. replied:
Thanks to all...I ended up at Cornerstone seeing Dr. Montgomery. So kind!
