New to the area looking for a pediatrician that uses the DS charts for well visits and who works with specialists. Specialist we need : Pediatric Ophthalmologist,...
Jeremey P. replied:
First, I would recommend applying for Medicaid TEFRA. It can be a lengthy process, but it'll be worth it even if you have private insurance (http://www.familyconnectionsc.org/medicaid.html). I'm not familiar with Anderson's services, but Developmental Pediatrics in Greenville is great. We see Dr. Kelly and couldn't be happier with him. I know people that see other dr's there and feel the same way. It can be quite a wait, though (http://www.ghschildrens.org/developmental-behavioral-pediatrics.php). Dr. Kelly has informed us that the new guidelines for care of children with DS no longer use the DS growth charts. For endocrinology, we use Dr. Amrhein. Again we have no complaints with him. We usually see the NP, though. (http://www.ghs.org/physicians/james-amrhein/1588622179#.U-zwmvldUrU). For opthalmology, we use Dr. Johnson with Jervey Eye Group (https://www.jervey.com/). For a dentist, we use Dr. Crockett (http://www.crockettpediatricdentistry.com/). For primary care, we use the Center for Pediatric Medicine and have been happy with them. (http://www.ghschildrens.org/center-for-pediatric-medicine.php) We have felt very lucky in the quality of care we have gotten for our son. Like I said, all of these are in Greenville, I don't know what you'll find in Anderson. Hope that helps!

Our pediatrician is Dr. Donna Smith. She loves our DS babies and has the DS growth chart. She is always in communication with Connors cardiologist, endocrinologist, and help you get in touch with any other specialist you may need. The Pelham Rd. Office has all the specialist in one building, who all communicate with each other also. They make visits to Mary Black also in Spartanburg.

Tracey Butcher at Carolina pediatrics

We use the same endocrinologist and eye dr as the Poindexter's and are pleased. We also use Greenville hospitals deveplomental Peds, but are seen at the CDS office because my kids are younger. Both of my children see NP Kathy Burnette there and we are pleased. We see GHS peds pulmonology and usually see NP Lisa DuBose and I LOVE her. We have also seen dr Gwinn and Snodgrass in that office and like each of them. Both of my boys go to Greenville pediatric Dentistry and we LOVE the doctors there. All three are wonderful and each have many special needs patients.
Crystal H. replied:
We live in Anderson, but all Peds specialists are associated with Greenville Hospital System. Many of them do see patients in Anderson offices on certain days of the week though. Personally, I just prefer to go to the Children's Outpatient Clinic in Greenville. Or specialists are all in that office and are great abit trying to scheduled our appointments back to back so that we don't have to make multiple trips.
Crystal H. replied:
We see Dr Godwin at Pediatric Associates of Powdersville. She doesn't use a separate chart, but we have not had any problems with that. We love her! They are associated with GHS as well. My advice as a mom of a child who sees many specialists is to try to stick with GHS (greenville health system) doctors because they share a records system and work closely with each other. This has been very helpful to me.
Kristi W. replied:
I recommend Dr Smith with GHS ophthalmology... She caught some stuff Dr Johnson didn't... And we had been going to him since Avery was 6 months.. We see Dr Armhein for endocrinology. No complaint.
Moms I need to find a good pediatric dentist for the girls. Any suggestions appreciated!
