A colleague of mine in work is looking for a wedding venue. She's been looking at hotels and barns but they're looking too expensive. Anyone have any gems-...

Priors Hall and chapter room at the cathedral. £700 for both rooms for the whole day, you can decorate it yourself the night before or they will do it & then food in top but at a reasonable price. It's beautiful, you can see it in the winchester cathedral website! Way cheaper than other venues! But numbers limited to sit down for about 75 but can have more later for a party! Would def recommend!

Broughton village hall near Stockbridge - either the hall or, like I did for my daughter - a marquee on their green. It was fabulous and means you can choose your own caterers and provide your own booze. Much cheaper than hotels and barns where you often can only use their suppliers. I can also personally recommend a really really good Wedding DJ - bespoke service, really listens to what YOU want - Elliot Events DJ : http://www.ellioteventsdj.com If your friend needs one!

Most village halls have been rebuilt. We used Littleton Millennium memorial hall. It was so lovely. Massive kitchen, huge hall and the small room too. Itchen Abbas has a lovely hall too.

Parsonage Farm near Andover have a line orchard and a really old barn they have done up to hold weddings in. They seem to do a nice event.

No room hire at fox and hounds in Crawley, and packages tailored for all budgets, give us a call on 01962776006 if village pub in idyllic hampshire village sounds like the ticket.
