Pampered Pooch in Altoona is GREAT with my lab!! She gets to play all day and is not kenneled constantly!! Had a bad experience with the one in Bondurant where she was covered in her own feces and urine when picked up. Hopefully a one time thing but still wasn't okay with me!!
Sarah S. replied:
The Dog Spot! The last time we saw the owner, my beagle was so excited to see Joey! She was whining and jumping up and wagging her tail like she does when my fiance and I come home. I know the owner and she has such a heart for dogs and truly takes care of them as if they were her own.

We use Tri County Kennel in Madrid. A bit of a drive and limited hours for drop off and pick up BUT much more affordable than the ones in town and no extra charges for dog play time.

If you can drive up to Danville, Animal Medical Center there is amazing. They have a big yard for dogs to play in, and they will post pictures of them on facebook while you're gone. It's also way cheaper than any place in the Triad.

Www.rover.com lists people who work as sitters in their homes. I haven't tried it, but they do have a special offer for Reddit Gold members.

Almost Home on Highway 150 is wonderful. I work at the vet clinic right next door and have been behind the scenes, back in the kennels and grooming room, and can say they take very good care of the dogs. They even have training classes and a few kennels with webcams if you want to check in in your pet throughout their stay.
neopenguin replied:
I've been taking my Corgi to Camp Bowwow for daycare for years (though she's never needed boarding). They have separate play areas for large and small dogs (and maybe a third for the "elders"), and a lot of times they seem to keep very small dogs and puppies in the front area. I haven't ever had any issues, and they have webcams so you can check in on your camper.
maclamby replied:
We've used Abbots Groom and Board for years. They are truly caring for all the pets they keep. They also don't do a big mixed play time like other places. They do it individually. We've tried some of the other places, but no place has ever made us feel as good as they have.

My two dachshunds have been boarded at the [Best Friends Bed and Biscuit](http://bedandbiscuit.com/) for years. It can get a little pricey, but they love going there and are taken excellent care of. EDIT: In face, the black dachshund on the home page is mine!
