Hi all,
Just some advice needed. Around 10 years ago I would paint GW miniatures and gave it up after a few years and have a dabble every now and again.
After finding...

Paint brands don't matter that much imo. I own old and new Gw paints, but also army painter, vallejo and some others. My advice is to keep what you own, and expand into other ranges when you need a colour that doesn't quite work in the one you use. It's what I do, and I've never had trouble. Half the time the paint isn't the problem, it's the quality of brushes used and lack of care. So I suggest also investing in some good brushes, brush soap, and a brush sponge for cleaning them with.
Does anyone have experience using Army Painter snow?
I've made my own snow using baking soda mixed with PVA glue. Once dry I seal It with Ardcoat.
Can I mix the Army...

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone here has any suggestions for a grey spraypaint. Games Workshop don't do one any more and i've had mixed results with Army Painter.

Halfords Grey Primer. The puppies... Ahem
Dan B. replied:
Halfords Plastic Grey Primer is awesome, however I have found that the paint you put on can some times rub off when handled a lot. The same was true of GW Skull White years ago but once you varnish them it's all good:)
Ok more n00bish questions. ..I find painting skin difficult especially pallid, wounded, pale or coloured skin do most if not all of my minis have very similarly...

1) There are a lot of them out there. I'd suggest a few YouTube videos that focus on skin. Painting Buddha is one of my favourites right now, but there are many. Here are a few quick tips though. Use super thin layers (as usual, but as the face is a focal point of a mini, it holds especially true with faces). Don't use just flesh tones. Add in some reds and blues in very thin glazes. It will make your skin look much more alive. For more pallid tones, go heavier on the blue. 2) Simple Green concentrate is what I most often use for stripping minis. It won't hurt the plastic and should take of most of what's there.

Don't bother with Fairy Power Spray. They changed it and it's now complete rubbish. As for painting skin, take a look at Painting Buddha on YouTube.
Christopher J. replied:
Green Stuff is always iffy. It can react with a lot of stuff. It's much less resilient than plastic.
Hey guys. Does anyone have any experience with the army painter paints? . Are they any good?

I model Imperial Fists. The AP Demonic Yellow works best over a white enamel primer. I use the $ .97 Walmart Enamel Primer. Not the greatest, but it's 97 cents a can, versus $17 a can for the new GW White. White primer, several thin coats of Demonic Yellow, and you're all set. The AP Wolf Grey goes on smooth, dries VERY uniformly, and your Space Wolves are 75% done.

Morning all, I'm more a gamer than painter but was looking for advice on development here please. Many thanks! (Still need to complete the lower base section)
