I have a friend that has a young son who was just diagnosed with ADHD, Aspergers and Anxiety disorder. We need doctor's names, advocates, support groups and caring...

Dr. Brad Berman was my first stop and remained a cornerstone throughout my son's childhood and young adult years. My son also needed speech therapy which he was evaluated and received 6 years of therapy at Children's Hospital (satellite offices are available). My insurance even paid for it while his speech was categorized as extremely behind (they won't offer it to you, you will need to fight them for it). If you need any kind of eye care at Meredith Moran at UC Berkeley there is a Dr. Pia Honig and she is the director of the teaching school and holds a masters in Special Education. Immediately register your child with the school district for early intervention classes. Sometimes you have to take your Mom badge off and put your advocate hat on. You are your child's best advocate! Start writing EVERYTHING down dates, times, medications, childhood milestones, even food (some foods acerbate the hyperactivity). You will need to refer back to those notes for the next 20 +/- years!!!

We go to Dr Deborah Sedberry in WC. Ive heard Berman isn't taking new patients? Does anyone know if that is true? We have some friends just starting the journey as well.
Robin S. replied:
I'm not aware of him no longer taking new patients but my son has now aged out of his care. I know Dr. Berman is enjoying donating some of his time and talent to children in less privileged countries.
