Anyone have a recommendation for a good primary care doc in the John Muir network in, or near, Walnut Creek?
Christine D. replied:
I see Dr. Maeve O'Regan. She is in Walnut Creek on Oakland Boulevard. I really like her. 947-0147.
Sarah H. replied:
Dr. O'Regan is very good. And the whole practice there is all women doctors. I've seen most of them (depending on who is available) and they have all been good.
Does anyone remember having Doctor Frost as a pediatrician in Concord?
Junior V. replied:
Dr Irianna dentist for us poor kids in the sixties.
Beverly W. replied:
The girls loved Dr. Carney. Youngest one still wishes she could go to him!
Bartlett R. replied:
Dr. Penhale was my doctor and Dr. Lambrokous was my dentist. His Hands (before they used gloves) always tasted like soap
Patricia Q. replied:
I had Dr. Lambrukus as my dentist. Funny how he never used Novacaine for fillings and I never felt any pain. And I had a lot of fillings!
Howard T. replied:
Wow!!! Dr Gill....that was a long time ago....I had him back in the 40 s
Patricia Q. replied:
Dr. Gill made house calls!
Nancy W. replied:
- I had Dr Samaha for my dentist. Not Jon, but his dad, Emile,. I remember he had big fingers and I thought my lips were going to rip (no gloves at that time either) and I never had Novocaine either.
Joan S. replied:
I had Dr. Gouchoe
Roberta H. replied:
We had Dr. Penhale
Kristin M. replied:
Dr Douglas Johnson was my dentist on Pleasant St.
Michelle B. replied:
I had Dr. Packard when I was very little.
Tammy V. replied:
Dr. Frost was not kind. While sewing stitches in my head when I was in the 1 st grade he yelled at me for crying. Hello...he didn't numb the area first.
Joan G. replied:
I had Dr Frost! He always called my unruly red hair "living hay", and I thought he gave shots out of spite, but my mom insisted he was "a wonderful Dr who had saved a friends child's life by correctly diagnosing his condition where others failed". I also remember Dr Blood & Dr Pain - funny. Mom saw Dr Potter.
Nick D. replied:
Cathy, that dentist was Dr Freeze. I had him & Dr. Frost.
Mary S. replied:
Had Dr. Gouchoe for my two boys Sean Gordon (the one who started this site) and my younger son, Matthew Gordon. He was a great man. His son (don't recall his first name) worked at the Brick Tower Motel (where I was a bartender) and I remember when he committed suicide. Very sad.
Beverly W. replied:
Dr. Gouchoe was wonderful. I asked him how he felt about motherly instinct to which he told me it was very strong. Didn't take me long to figure out he was the one for my girls. They never showed any of the physical symptoms when they were sick, but I just knew. He never told me I couldn't have an appointment.
Betty G. replied:
I had Dr Gouchoe for my daughter...he WAS wonderful...- although first she had Dr. Gill until he retired...both wonderful doctors...
Angie F. replied:
Dr. Penhale who would come to the house. He was an awesome man

Holly V. replied:
Dr Frost and Dr Ross were the BEST.
Marty S. replied:
Ot Dr.Gouchoe. loved his nurse, Mary.
Marty S. replied:
Dr. Gouchoe made a housecall a couple of times to our house
Karen G. replied:
Not sure who took out mine BUT...I had my tonsils removed at the age of 7 years old in 1964 at the Concord Hospital. I recall being scared after my Mom left that I started to cry and scream the nurse then brought my crib ( Yes Crib) into the hall way to keep an eye on me. I was jumping up and down crying and carrying on when the nurses STRAPPED me down to the crib on my legs and arms. I to this day have night mares of that place and have a scare on my inner right arm to prove what they did to me. Unfortunately mom did not find the BURN until 2 days later and all the nurses denied it was done there
Joy W. replied:
Dr Caroline Duegar (sp??) - wonderful woman!
Jane N. replied:
Dr. Dueger was great - and I was so sad when my mom told me that her 18 year old was killed in the auto/truck accident out in CA. SAD!
Melanie G. replied:
I had Dr. Frost and he scared the crap out of me...
Renee S. replied:
I had Dr. Blood and Dr. Conrad but don't remember anything about either of them lol.
Johanna H. replied:
Dr. Blood was Concord's only surgeon back then. My friend Jeff Woodman had his deviated septum repaired by Dr. Blood. It was very ugly.
Sharon A. replied:
Dr. Blood took mine & my brother Obie's out the same day back in 1960.
Beverly W. replied:
Weren't there two Dr. Bloods? One good and the other not so good?
Sharon A. replied:

Shawn H. replied:
I had Dr. Frost for a few years and Dr. Gouchoe.
Rosie D. replied:
I can go back to having Dr. Boucher. His office was on State Street, across form the former Monitor building. He made house calls. (a thing of the past!!!!)
Tammy H. replied:
Now they all have Dr. Wicksman...he is great!
Beverly W. replied:
Dr. Ross blamed my kids' ear infections on allergies - both of them ended up with the T&A and haven't had any "allergy" problems since. He wanted us to remove all carpeting, drapes, etc. from the house. Glad we didn't!
Margaret B. replied:
Dr. Soue.....kind and fatherly....he put medicine in perspective.
Jeanine D. replied:
I had Dr. Gouchoe & Devito sometimes!
Bob W. replied:
My kids had Dr Ross but they would go to him from time to time. They were not happy when he was the one
Nancy W. replied:
- I had Dr Penhale. As a kid, I called him Dr. Penhead.
Sharon A. replied:
Dr. Gouchoe for us six kids. He use to come to the house & say t my parents, "My wife said to thank you," for the new dining room set, or some other piece of furniture. Even for his VW Beetle. Haha. My kids had Dr. DeVito. Altho, my son Adam did have Dr. Frost when he was born while Dr. DeVito was off.
Jane B. replied:
Drs Penhale and Gouchoe and they both made house calls
Beverly W. replied:
We started out with Dr. Ross and immediately switched to Dr. Gouchoe and then Dr. Carney when Dr. G. retired.

Lynn L. replied:
Yes and I didn't like him either! Dr Dueger (sp?) was my favorite!
Johanna H. replied:
Dr. Frost was my two older kids' pediatrician. My son put his bottom teeth through his lip when he was 18 months old, Dr. Frost said "that just doesn't happen" while looking at the stitches both inside and outside that poor baby's mouth. He was baffled.
Jane W. replied:
He was very cool. I had a HMO and had to have him when my other children had Dr Devito. I had my Daughter Christmas night Dec 25, 1991. Dr Frost came in later to check her out and I was sleeping. He woke me up said "She has all the right stuff in the right places, now go back to sleep." lol Then I wanted her ears pierced when she was 3 month sold. I had gone to an auction and in a box I found a beautiful Frost coat of arms picture. So he traded me her ears pierced for the picture. Those were the days!
Johanna H. replied:
Dr. Gouchoe was my pediatrician, he actually made a house call, told my dad I had the Hong Kong flu. I ended up in Concord Hospital with pneumonia at the age of 15. Back then they had oxygen tents, lol
Carol H. replied:
I worked for Dr. Frost in his office from 1965-66.
