Hi - I really liked Maranboi from https://www.facebook.com/232095540135223Tanganyika Wilderness Camps Ltd. It is a 15 minutes drive from the gate of Tarangire. Their resident rate is about $85 per person full board. It is a tented camp - but with beds, showers & toilet in the tent - so would fall under the luxury segment. I have done several self drives - it is not that hard - google maps in Tarangire helps. You can also get a guide at the gate. I have always paid with Visa at the gate - I believe that MasterCard also works.

Hi Allise ! I'm a IVHQ alum. My project was in southern Kenya teaching at a Maasai school. Afterwards, I felt I could help Africa in other ways, t by helping a quality African owned tour company develop its safari operation. We've been working together now for 2 years. The company is a called Zinga African Safaris based in Arusha , Tanzania (www.zingafricansafaris.com) . My role and been providing consultative support and representing them to the English speaking market. Their spoken English is great but they really need help doing the kind of writing I do for them in the marketing process. My view has been that East Africa really needs economic development for its long term self-sufficiency. Along with that comes a stronger private sector that has a greater voice in determining their own destiny and more income so they can access quality education and health care. Most of the large tour companies in East Africa are owned by Westerners which takes a lot of the profits out of Africa. I also helped the company design unique safaris that feel would best appeal to a Western audience that integrates wildlife viewing, cultural immersion experiences , and recreational adventures in there Serengeti and throughout Tanzania. As a former volunteer there, I also realized if volunteers leave their projects, they can only get away for brief periods(that was my situation) so we designed 4-5 day safaris for volunteers and students living for brief periods in Africa. There are 2 types. One type are called " Short Safaris" on the Zinga website in which you stay in lodges [ http://www.zingaafricansafaris.com/short-safaris/ ]. The other type are "Camping Safaris" that are 2-5 days length, cost less, and you stay close to nature [ http://www.zingaafricansafaris.com/safaris/adventure-travel/camping/ ]. If you are thinking of going on safari after your volunteer work and have more time we have all kinds of safari options [ http://www.zingaafricansafaris.com/safaris/ ] . While you're at it, please check out Zinga's Facebook page and "Like" the page : [ www.facebook.com/ZingaAfricanSafaris ] Any questions, just let me know and wishing you a great experience ! Ken Zinga African Safaris doing them as camping safaris ( )need short safaris for long weekends

Never seen Dr Bronners but one of the major supermarkets might be willing to order it if you need a lot. Wouldn't get it sent as sometimes things arrive and sometimes they don't, you need a PO Box in your or the camps name to have an address to send to. There are a lot of good handmade soaps though, definitely would be easier if you just bought something made here.

I don't know about Arusha, but I used to buy dr Bronner's soaps at Healthy U in Nairobi.
