I have a similar circumstance and used to pay for an accountant. For three years now I have been using turbo tax. Honestly it makes even complicated fillings really easy. I know that is not what you are asking for but just sharing my experience.

I'm in the same boat as you, I'm self employed and my wife works full time. I use Bret Hansley in West Asheville and am super happy with him. He's really reasonably priced and it seems that my returns have been much more favorable than when I was using Turbotax.

How much money are you actually making and how complicated is your actual accounting? As long as you've tracked your expenses reasonably well and have your 1099s, it is extremely easy to use Turbo Tax online to e-file your schedule C and your 1040. Maybe consider filling out a schedule C on your own, see how intimidating you find it, and go from there. It might be beneficial to have professional advice about your expenses and deductions. I am certainly not an expert, but what I was taught was basically "don't be a dumbass" about your business expenses, particularly home office deductions, and to remember that they're not going to audit you in 90 days, they're going to audit you in 3 years.
