Has anyone else had the experience of a car wash ripping out the top rear light?
Darren K. replied:
I did a quick search online and yes, automated washes are known for ripping them off! First of all, I'd recommend sealing off the open panel as water can leak into the tailgate through there. I don't think you can buy just the lens, so your probably looking a replacement unit. It's worth pricing with the dealer; Arve at the parts desk can help. Alternatively, you could buy an aftermarket unit from the US but don't forget about shipping, exchange rate and potential duty (unless shipped USPS); http://new.minimania.com/part/NMX7639E/Mini-Cooper-Brake-Light--3 rd-Value-Line-R50-R53http://www.waymotorworks.com/third-brake-light.htmlhttp://www.waymotorworks.com/clear-third-brake-light-r50-r53.html

I'm from a state that has salt on the roads practically half the year and it really isn't that bad. It looks a lot worse than it really is. Cars typically don't start having issues until like 10 years of use in an environment like that. One day is not going to make your car rust.

Odd question: Does anyone know of any self-service car washes (the kinds with the foaming brush and pressure washer) in the Green Cove/southern Jax area?
Jonathan M. replied:
Ducky's Car Wash on 17/Roosevelt. Great self service car wash and a straight shot down 17 to Green Cove from there. That's the one I'll be at prior to heading to Green Cove
