www.coverdogmessageboard.com - try the classifieds, might be a wait, most reputable places don't have pups available this time of year.

The Pet Set off of Briarcliff has a large room where they mostly doggie daycare pets. But, they have been really good to Atlanta Beagle Rescue. They have a sectioned area that might be good for what you need. http://www.thepetset.com/contactthepetset

I don't know anything about these folks, sadly, but you can't be the location http://www.yelp.com/biz/park-pet-supply-atlanta?nb=1 There's also a boutique-y place in Oakhurst right across from Steinbeck's

We went to Pet Superstore on Memorial Drive this weekend. I was mad at myself for not trying it sooner. It's an old Pier One location so it's pretty large. It's very quiet in there (not a ton of shoppers) and they have bunnies, ferrets, hamsters, small birds and a few snakes, even. It might be a fun outing for y'all - not TOO far away from home. (Otherwise, there is a smaller pet store in Dunwoody that has birds, a huge tortoise who walks around the store (the store pet), puppies and kittens, too! It's usually very crowded in there, though.)
