Talk to me about tracking devices...
Anyone use a gps tracking device in case you get separated from your horse during a ride or at camp? Looking for something I could...
I've heard good things about the SPOT, too. But if anyone's looking for a low-tech way to keep your emergency contact info on the rider and on the horse, please take a look at the I.C.E. Clip-on. It's a vinyl label that wraps around nylon, closes securely w/Velcro and has a trigger snap that enables you to clip it on your saddle/saddle bags, breast collar . . . and clip another to yourself. The clip-on can also be clipped to the halter while you're in camp to ID your horse if he makes a break for it. More pics and info on our FB page: facebook.com/icehalter or on our website www.sierraviewranchgeneralstore.com Thanks for checking it out. :)

Looks like the Spot Tracker is the cheapest version. From what I can see no yearly fee? Just tracks your possessions, in this case the horse. Susan Frank Cooper is that right...you just buy it and no more fees? http://www.findmespot.com/en/index.php?cid=109&refer=FrontpageBanner

I want to come back to the area and camp (hookups if possible) - ok Auburn people..tell me a good place to go around there!
Tara B. replied:
It's now the Gold Country RV park and has space for RV's and they have cabins, but no tent camping. http://www.auburnrvpark.com/

Scotts Flats is GREAT...
Debbie W. replied:
Sugar Pine has a lake but I don't know how many hookups. Scotts Flat is nice but Sugar Pine is lots nicer. Sugar Pine has bathrooms but no showers. It also has a boat ramp if you have boats. The sites are very close to the lake with trails from all the sites. One is Giant Gap Campground the other is Shirttall Creek campground at Sugar Pine.
Debbie W. replied:
U.S. Forest service #(530)367-2224 for info and reserve. In Giant Gap campground #28 and 30 sites are very large and my personal favorite but again I don't know about hookups they do have dumping station however.
Teri Packard is the place near Cool in Coloma? Tara, yeah I know about the Gold Country RV park on hwy 49...I was kinda wanting more "camping atmosphere" - we are trying to get about 4 or 5 families together (all from Auburn) and do a camp out weekend.
Debbie W. replied:
Sugar Pine closer and nice! Large sites.
Karen B. replied:
Debbie, is there water like a river, creek there? Any hookups? Maybe I will try to google Sugar Pine.

If you can't find ponies, Face Painting is always fun too. Here's a link to my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/facefulloffun?ref=hl. Let me know if you're interested. I think I do have a number for someone who has ponies though. Let me look it up.
Tammy S. replied:
Ok. Here's the info on the person I know with ponies. Her company is American Pony Rides and her name is Dyan Timmons. Her phone number is 530-272-8783. I don't know if she has a Facebook page or not. But give her a call and see what she can provide for you. She is out of Cedar Ridge, which is near Grass Valley. So she is fairly local.
