It''s not uncommon to have neighbors on and you can't get DSL from ATT. There is limited capacity, sometimes it requires someone leaving before another can join. Other options depend on where you are. Rural.net or Cal.net is a terrestrial wireless system that is available in some areas. You need to call them and ask, they may need to do a site survey. Other option is to use a cellular provide, can be the most expensive as well.
Ann F. replied:
Try Cal.net.

ATT will not install any new DSL service. I have it and I am holding on tight. Maintaining their DSL up here must be a pain for them and they want to be rid of it.

Cal.net has been wonderful for us, we're in Garden Valley though.

Cal.net was the only one we were able to find with actual unlimited. Still $80 ish per month for 10/2 which might be more than what you need for one person but pretty much required for more than one, especially if streaming.

Hughesnet has been great here in Greenwood. Richard Talamantez installed. Was able to watch March Madness with no problems.:)
Bruce H. replied:
Ruralnet is also one you might wish to check into. I pay $60 per month for unlimited data. Calnet couldn't serve me. It depends on where you location is with either CalNet or Ruralnet which will determine if they can serve you. http://www.ruralnetca.com/

HATE VERIZON. I. Actually was able to cancel my contract with no cancellation fees because of their shitty service. I was in pville off Newtown road. Worked great at first. Then stopped or was very slow.

I am pretty sure that Zeta broadband covers that area. We used them when we lived in Loomis and I was *generally* happy. Better than satellite at any rate: http://www.zetabroadband.com/
Who do you use for DSL internet service? ? We live in the trails and have AT&T and are looking to switch. Thanks
Ken P. replied:
If you were to get DSL or have it already, keep it until you have something up and operational that is better than DSL because you'll never get it back.... Here's an article I wrote in the notes section of this group that has info on various providers. https://www.facebook.com/notes/whats-happening-on-the-divide/internet-options-on-the-divide/10159008610400082/
