Hobbyist electronic stores in NZ I was looking to buy some components the other day and found out that the physical RS Online store in Auckland closed a year ago. Does...

Jaycar, if you want to pay out the arse for capacitors with about a 10% failure rate from new and maybe 40% tolerance from the stated values. NZ is pretty screwed for decent electronics supply. Stick with mouser or element14.

I miss the old Dick Smiths.

There's one in Christchurch called South Island Component Centre: sicom.co.nz

In my experience it's often of more value to order parts online in the lowest bulk option available from Element14, than buy a handful at any physical store. Sure you may not need them at the time, but it saves you having to get more in future. This type of stockpiling of components over time imo is the most economic way to *do* hobbyist electronics.

Not really sure exactly what you are looking for but is Jaycar the sort of place you would be looking for?

Jaycar if in a pinch and you need it now, RS or Element14 if you're ok to wait. Personally love RS. Surplustronics is also excellent but they don't always have everything you need in stock

RS will usually ship next day if in stock. I have bought a lot from [littlebird.com.au](https://littlebird.com.au) in Aus with good success. They stock Sparkfun, Adafruit ect.

Mouser is about as good as it gets. RS Online, AVNET, Arrow, Element 14 etc are all overpriced on almost everything

You can order online with RS and it's usually next day
