New Zealand Jewelers - looking for locally made wedding rings I'm getting married soon, and I think it would be cool to go with locally made rings. Does anyone know of...

I've had really good results with Mike Barker... You can find him on Facebook at "mike the jeweller" or on 063686000. He's based in Levin though. Took our concept from design to end result, could not be happier with the level of craftsmanship.

Have a look at their [instagram](https://www.instagram.com/76 design/), twitter [@Nz76 design](https://twitter.com/Nz76 design) and other social media for more pics of what they do. You can have your ideas turned into a design or design yourself or pick one design that you like.

Louis the goldsmith in Parnell was by far the best we found and couldn't recommend him enough. We got a much better handmade ring and it cost us a lot less than any of the other places which were mostly selling junk. He's a Swiss trained jeweller who's been designing and making hand made jewellery for decades. He will also tell you which jewellers to steer clear of. He's a bit eccentric but that comes with the territory when dealing with any Shokunin. He also encourages you to be involved with parts of hand making the rings like melting the precious metals and some of the marking.

Highly recommend these guys: https://www.facebook.com/therollingmillnz/?fref=ts. Beautiful stuff, really nice people, and they're very good with custom work. I wish I had known about them when we got our rings. HOWEVER, we went with Ash Hilton which was slightly less local for us, but he provided us with beautiful rings at a good price (with ethical gold and diamonds).

Not sure about your location, but in Raglan there's an art shop which has a lot of jewellery for sale, which I'm fairly certain is locally made. It's called Show Off, and it's on the Main Street.

Tory & Ko did a great job with our engagement ring. Haven't got wedding bands yet
RoscoePSoultrain replied:
I think it was Vanessa at Filigree in Chch who helped us design our engagement ring, but she's gone a bit upmarket since (and good on her). We got our bands from wholesale jeweller Warren Agencies, as they were just simple bands. Bonus, gave us a good price on my old (defective) band. Both places were very good experiences, this was about nine years ago.

I got ours made by [Khay Amani](http://www.kamani.co.nz/) in Auckland. Really happy with how it turned out, and she knows how to work on a budget and get bang for your buck. I had my wifes engagement ring independently valued for insurance purposes and it's valued at almost double what I paid for it. That was mostly through careful choice of diamond.

[This place](https://www.facebook.com/pages/New-Jewellery/191913500847107) is owned by the brother of [this guy](http://www.thegreatfroglondon.com/) who's designed jewellery for Dee Schineder (Twisted Sister), Ozzy Osbourne, Lady Gaga and a bunch of other unique looking famous people. Locally owned, good jewellery.

[Carlina Goffe](http://www.carlinagoffe.co.nz/current-work-for-sale) is a talented jeweler and she does commission work. I have several pairs of earrings from her and I wear them all the time.:]

You could do it yourself? These guys do a pretty good ten week night school and the tutors help to make sure the stuff you make looks profesh. First few weeks are spent learning to use the tools making a silver band, a stone setting and a pendant, then you can make what ever you like. Its pretty mean learning to use all of the metal/silver tools and stuff. http://www.jewel.school.nz/courses/recreational-courses.html

My sister got her wedding rings designed and manufactured at Innes Jewellers in Takapuna, on Hurstmare road. Lovely lovely rings, and the have been great with the upkeep of the rings too. She needed a stone put back in about 4 years after they had been manufactured and had to pay only a fraction of the price you would have paid at a generic jeweller such as MHJ!

Anyone know who repairs watches and sunglasses. After local businesses not auckland ones. Watch needs new pin and Prada glasses need adjusting.

I am not sure if they are still there, but pretty sure you used to be able to take in clocks and watches to The Jewellers (in Neville street?) and they would arrange Peter and Bunty Cotton of Wellsford to repair them. Could possibly also contact them directly, they may be able to pick up when they next in town 423 7828 and they are super awesome people:)
