Pre Purchase Inspection Looking to buy a used vehicle from the dealer and I need a thorough prepurchase inspection. My last car was totaled (not at fault, at the dealers...

I used a company called lemon busters to do pre purchase inspections, they send a tech out to check the car you want, they could drive to the dealership and meet you there so you don’t have to drive it anywhere

Which one would you recommend more: Lemon Busters or Auto PI

Assuming you are looking for signs of accident damage or other serious abuse? Any shop with a lift should suffice. If the dealer will not allow it then WALK AWAY because if the car is clean they should have nothing to hide. Find a shop near the dealer with decent Yelp and Google reviews then call to see about an appointment. Lots of flood cars still floating around out there and CarFax and similar outfits are not 100% reliable. Good luck!

Most PPI's I've had done in the austin area run about $100 or so. but from my experience, I haven't had anyone of them find something that I couldn't find myself upon a visual inspection. But thats probably more due to the type of cars that i buy and their relatively young age. Considering the cost of vehicles, and that people now a days are going 5, 6, even 7 year auto loans, its absolutely worth it to get it done. Everyone I've used has offered to pick up the car themselves, and like everyone else has said, if they refuse to let you take it to an inspector, its an automatic red flag, hard pass, do not pass go.

No recommendations, but don't put much faith in the inspection. It might find things like body damage, but it probably won't do very much in terms of predicting mechanical failure. I doubt they even do technical things like check compression.

Either find a friend who knows cars, ask the seller to drive it to the shop, or add it to your insurance policy before you go to look at it. Do be aware that most sellers don't want to deal with inspections though, in my experience when I've sold cars and let them get one, they try to use it to nickel-and-dime me for stupid shit that's not a big deal (i.e. "they said it would be $700 to do the brakes which are 80% worn, so you should take that much off!" ... "I could do the brakes for like $100, but why would I do that with 20% life left..."
Anyone can recommend a good Car Dealer to me? Not necessary in Austin.

"Austin auto dealership street" in the South I35. It has all kinds of car models (e.g. 4914 S Interstate 35 Frontage Rd), you can walk through one by one. They will pick you up and send you home.

My husband sells cars at First Texas Honda (both new and used). The dealership is no hassle no haggle so it is very low key. I am actually buying a car right now. His name is Shawn Knodel and he's a good guy. Good luck!

My step father in law owns a used car dealership. He lives in Victoria. Even though its a drive, its so worth it for a good deal. His dealership is called Northpoint Auto Sales. They have a website if you google it.:). Good luck!

I got my Camry from Charles Maude Toyota in Austin. They treated us pretty good and even fill up my gas tank every time I go in for stuff. A Toyota Tacoma would be a good truck to have!!!
Good morning peeps! I need some help where are my car dealer people at? I'm looking for a decent running used car with AC for around $2000.00 for my son. Anybody know...
