I've seen both Katie Callais and Michelle McClendon at Method.Hair and LOVE them both. My boyfriend sees Michelle as well and has sworn off anyone else forever. Katie is a bit more expensive to see, and busier too, but they are both excellent and do a wonderful job coloring hair - especially if you're interested in COLOR color as opposed to blondes/browns. They've both dyed my hair various shades of blue, purple, and blonde and each time is perfect. I'd say the only difference is that Michelle is probably better at bolder colors whereas Katie is better at more subtle, softer shades. Method is a bit on the expensive side but absolutely a million times worth it.

[Jessica Tate](http://www.thejessicatatehair.com/) at [Mantis Salon](https://www.facebook.com/mantissalon/)! She's amazing with color. I've recommended her to several people who became regular clients.:) (Just fyi, that phone number on her website is her cell phone and she will make appointments by text message or phone.)

https://www.facebook.com/BKHairArtistry/ Bobbie is pretty much a goddess of color. I get stopped literally-not-figuratively every time I leave the house and asked where I got my hair done and can I please share my stylist's info. She specializes in bayalage, updos, long-lasting neons, and vivids, and is amazing with more natural colors as well. She's also amazingly affordable. High end NY quality at mid-level ATX prices.

I got to Brad Joe at Red Stella, and I love my hair. He focuses on more natural looking color...but they also have a lot of stylists that do all sorts of awesome things with color. Their [Instagram feed](https://www.instagram.com/redstellasalon/) has a lot of good examples of their color work.

Victoria at Vain in east Austin. Trendy salon and Victoria is very up on her coloring techniques. She was just talking to me about classes she took with the person who does Kylie Jenner's hair and Victoria rocks silver and black in her hair. Have always gotten a great cut from her and she is passionate about coloring.

I don't know about what you're looking for specifically but the last time I made a major hairstyle change I went to [Jose Luis Salon](http://www.joseluissalon.com/). It was just *before* ombre was really in and my stylist was trying to convince me to do it but I thought it was too weird. I should have listened to her; I would have been so cutting edge! My point is, from what I saw they have a stylists with varying degrees of skill and specialty so you could probably call up there and talk to them about this and they'd have just the person with umpteen years of experience.

I had pastel hair. Most colorists won't take you from dark brown to pastel in one sitting, as it's going to massively fry your hair (experience), but they will take you there in a hair-safe way. I recommend my gal Kallie over at Frenchy's Salon. Probably any of them could do it, since most of the folks over there are quite alternative and hip. Plus, it's the cutest salon. I believe if you mention Yelp you also get a 15% discount...or this was true a few years ago at least.
