Does anyone know of a good OB/GYN in Austin or a midwife that would be willing to do prenatal care and support a hospital birth?

Dr Andrea Campaigne -- I will get her info.

Consider the hospital as well as the dr. The doctor may well not be at the birth, anyhow! Friends and family members of mine have really liked Seton Southwest. Calmer, quieter, less pressure to hurry up and get the baby out. Hospitals like St David's (Central) can feel like baby factories. Hill Country OB is a group of women drs who work at Seton Southwest and would be on my list if I were looking.
Brenda M. replied:
My care at St. David's central for pre term labor and birth was exceptional. Largely in part to Dr. Mirto who was able to be at the birth. I don't know about other docs there. The nurses, pedis, and staff were kind and caring also. They all supported my decision for a drug free birth. I never once felt rushed or like I was in a factory. I have a friend who had a terrible experience at Seton SW, but like my experience, that was just one out of many.

We were really happy with Karen Swenson at Women Partner's in Health (34 th st.), although I'm not sure where they stand with Medicaid. Actually, all the doctors we dealt with at that practice were helpful and seemed to know their stuff.

I liked Dr. Natasya Ikbal at Women Partners in Health. They have 2 midwives on staff, too.
