We were diagnosed thru Dr. Felix with our lady of the lake in Baton Rouge! Our ped highly recommended the center and we really liked it there! Only prob is we had to wait 6 months for our 1 at apt! They do take Medicaid

There is a pa Amy at women's that we saw. I hope she finds someone to practice with. Dr Laura schxnyder was very good in person----but I never got phone calls returned when I had issues with adverse med reactions. So I was very disappointed with that level of care. I'm sticking with Amy as long as I can.

I have a friend in Laf whose son sees Dr Lalania Schexnayder in BR and really likes her. She said there are many people in Laf that go to her.
Karen M. replied:
None of the Drs at the Baton Rouge Clinic accept medicaid. Lalaina Schexnayder sees my son for his sensory disorder and anxiety disorder and ahe is great- except for the fact they dont take medicaid:(
Renee S. replied:
Dr Holman is excellent we saw her for my premie
Autism A. replied:
Kelley - we are not sure. I haven't heard anything. Pediatric Neurology is a service desperately needed for families in this area. Also, the lack of psychologists and psychiatrists who take Medicaid is atrocious and a travesty!:-(
Autism A. replied:
We had often referred families to Dr. Schexnayder in the past. We had not heard that she was no longer taking or not accepting Medicaid.:-(

My oldest sees Dr. Lalania Schexnayder and we absolutely love her. When we were in Lafayette we drove to Baton Rouge and now we are in Madisonville we still drive to Baton Rouge. My son sees her for his Tourette syndrome. Good luck finding a doctor you love is hard.

I read last night that the FDA has approved a device to lessen migraines. Going to check on it for my Scarlet. Here's the link. http://m.msnewsnow.com/#!/newsDetail/24954776

Dr Acosta. We love him

I saw Calegan at BR Neuro medical. He put me on preventive also. But it caused problems with my liver. But I liked him as a doc. I just gave up The meds
Rhett M. replied:
Cassie Laird Jannise I have suffered from migraines since I was 16. I see Dr Charles Kaufman in BR. He is a headache specialist. I haven't been migraine free, but they have cut down by 60-70%. Good luck. Migraines are terrible.
Kelsey P. replied:
Kari- Dr.Callerame at Neuromedical did my botox treatment. It hurts lol. Didn't help me, but it really helps one of my friends. She gets it every 3 months & has been a lifesaver this past year for her. I had to fight to get insurance to cover it but I think it should be easy to approve now. Cassie- Has he tried cutting anything out of his diet to see? I know there is a naturopathic doc in BR that was recommended to me but I never went. Pretty sure she was cash pay only. I will try and find her name. Always good to check out the non-medicinal routes, too! I hope he can find some relief!!!
Can anyone recommend a good neurologist either here or within a reasonable distance (for this reasonable can even be Houston, Atlanta, Dallas)? Preferably one who can...
Ron S. replied:
I don't know what the issue is, and I am very unsure that he could meet anyone in two weeks, but he has a network of approved Neurologists I believe. Dr. David Perlmutter, M.D. is one of the best in the nation. he is in Naples Florida. Maybe start with his office for a referral in BR or N.O. Much Love http://drperlmutter.com/
Colette D. replied:
Melissa, depends on the issue. Jay Acosta w neuromedical center is a general neurologist and is top notch.
Sydney H. replied:
My dad said Dr. Callermae at the Neromedical center. But he said it kind of depends on the reason.
Nancy C. replied:
Greg saw Dr. Acosta The NeuroMedical Center
Libby H. replied:
Acosta in Baton Rouge. Neurology clinic in Lacombe next choice
Question??? Has anyone heard of Dr.Holman and Dr. Schexnayder pediatric neurologist at Baton Rouge clinic? Need input and reviews. Mixed reviews online for both.
Amber H. replied:
Malik went to Dr. Holman ... she is the one that diagnosed him when he was two with classic autism. She's okay.... just very hard to get in touch with!
Jennifer S. replied:
When one of my daughters was having seizures, we saw Dr. Schexnayder. We only saw her a few times, but she was very nice. They don't have many pediatric neurologists in the BR area.
Here's something funny in an ironic way...my neurologist is referring me to a speech therapist. Anyone who knows me knows that speaking is not a problem for me.
