Camp Bow Wow! I just started working there, and I can definitely say that I'm going to board my dog there when I need to. It's awesome, and the dogs really get taken care of well

We board at Highland Road Animal Hospital. Have boarded 5 or so times in the past year and no issues whatsoever. You can pay a little extra ($6) for "playcare," which is when they let the dogs out to play with each other, and they have everything from crates to rooms with TVs (suites). We board our corgi in what they call the "large indoor run." I think it's $24/night. For a longer vacation we're taking, we booked the suite. Its $36/night and gives the dog alone time so they can actually get some sleep (if you've boarded before, you know how exhausted they are for a couple days after they come home). They leave the TV in there on for noise so they won't get lonely, though.

Azalea Lakes on Old Jefferson was pretty cheap compared to some others I've gone to... They're small but lovely! Absolutely do not go to Sherwood South Animal Hospital. Their prices are ridiculous (granted after the LSU Vet School, they're the next best qualified for specialty issues), but I've seen dark things.

Park Forest Animal Hospital on Greenwell Springs Rd. Dr. Dan is the best.

I would recommend thrive affordable pet care@Petco. They did an x ray of my cat, gave her 2 shots, and a 7 day supply of medicine and I paid $217. I feel like that’s a great price compared to others

Animal Ark Pet Clinic in the Drusilla Shopping Center. Very reasonable prices and good personal service.

Since she's a dog, AVS will def be cheapest. I bring my boys there and they do awesome work for cheap.
If you ever find yourself with a rodent, Azalea Lakes Vet Clinic is my suggestion. They took amazing care of our guinea pig earlier this year when an emergency sprung up. We were expecting a huge vet bill but it was less than 75$, with medicine. I don't know if they service all exotics, but they were the only people besides LSU in this area to take guineas.
They had a dropoff and pickup line so we never even had to go in - and the vet who took care of our gal came out at pickup to talk to us about everything & really put our minds at ease. You can tell they're swamped but despite that take a lot of care & are nice as can be. I really appreciated them.

Associated vets on greenwell springs is good for things like annual shots and check ups. Service can be hit and miss and I don't like using them for anything more serious then that. I love animal ark on drusilla. They're a bit more pricey but their service is fantastic.

I drive to prairieville to the Ascension Parish Animal Hospital because they are amazing and caring and cheaper than any vet I went to in Baton Rouge. Totally worth the drive for me.

AVS is definitely the cheapest and they do good work too. It’s a bit out of the way for a lot of people though.

Depends on area. I use and love Oneal Pet Hospital on Oneal near Old Hammond. Dr. Mike and his staff have taken great care of my dogs for years. He has lots of dogs himself, mostly pugs, which is why I chose him. They are like family over there. I'm sure most vets will give you a similar experience. It's usually a job people gravitate to for a love a pets.
Sherwood Animal Hospital often gets a bad rep. It is expensive and lots of people have bad stories, but remember it's a 24/7 emergency vet. Most people who call or take pets there are having a real emergency that can't wait for normal hours. Those are usually not great situations for pets and don't always have a happy ending. I took one of my dogs there at 3am, it cost a fair amount of money, but they worked as hard as they could and in the end, I lost him a few days later, but I don't doubt they did everything in they could for my buddy and made him as comfortable as possible.

Dr. Haas at [Jefferson Animal Hospital](http://jahvet.com/) is *awesome*. He's been seeing my kitties for 11 years, and you can tell he truly loves working with animals. They're located near Drusilla Lane on Jefferson Hwy. I've also heard many recommendations for All Pets on Perkins, over the years.
SlinkyAvenger replied:
If your pups are healthy as you say, then AVS is good and cheap for regular checkups. They aren't 24 hour, and I've been fortunate not to need that, but I would probably go to Sherwood Animal Hospital
chalkcat replied:
I cannot recommend Dr. Stephen Lee at Sherwood South Animal Hospital enough. They also have a 24-hour emergency vet. We have been using them for over a decade now and they take great care of all of our animals. From routine office visits to the big C and beyond, they have taken GREAT care of our animals and us.
blinksteele replied:
What part of the city will you be staying? There are a number of great facilities depending on your location. If you're in Perkins/Bluebonnet/Essen area, All Pets is great. For overnight or emergency care, you can't beat the LSU Vet Clinic. Our vet transferred our pup there last night and they've been taking great care of her.
