We used to go to AC Automotive on Grace, but Alec closed his shop. He is now working at Extra Mile on Eaton/199 just east of the school bus barn. That's where I'll be going when I need to. Alec is the best and most honest mechanic I've ever known and he wouldn't be with Extra Mile unless they were top notch. Highly recommend him/them. That being said, Joshua is right about checking the fuses first. Especially if the fan just stopped working all of a sudden. Of course, if the fuse is blown, the question is what made it blow.

Gone to Extra Mile in town, but don't know if they do transmissions. But Metro Transmission have helped me out and they seemed fair . Good people at both places!

As for transmissions, I would go with Swinehart's Transmission down on Fourth Plain. 13218 NE Fourth Plain Rd, Vancouver, WA 98682 (360) 892-3900 I had them rebuild the five-speed auto in my wife's car a few years ago. If I remember it right, they only had it four days, and their rates were very competitive.

I'd steer clear of My Auto Works. I took my sons car to their Woodland shop (they also have one in BG) they were supposed to do a full inspection (I certainly paid for one!) and I had an EMPTY fluid they didn't even notice. Also, their office lady won't let you talk to the mechanics....very bossy and pushy. $900 later...
