I used [Aylwin Construction](http://aylwinconstruction.com/) to do my roof. I'm very pleased with the quality of their work. It took two days only because the guy delivering the roofing materials was late. I have a rather small 730 square foot house. Included was a complete tear off (not a roof-over) and haul away of all old materials, no new sheeting, Lion-guard ice and water shield (a membrane that seals the roof surface under the shingles), fiberglass composite shingles with imbedded zinc (prevents moss and algae growth), and slightly reflective (Energy Star) for energy savings in hot weather, nailed, not stapled. Replaced all vents and flashing as well. $2800. None of the laborers spoke English so any concerns had to be phoned into the office, but they all did a fantastic job of roofing the house and their clean-up was impeccable. After picking up all the errant pieces of torn off roofing, they went around the perimeter of the house with a magnet to pick up any nails still on the ground. This company was the only one who had an estimator who actually took the time to come inside and discuss materials and the work to be done. That was a nice touch. After the work is done, you get to inspect it, and if you feel the work is acceptable, they send you a bill and you mail off a check. Easy as pie! Edit to add: They also included a very comprehensive warranty at that price.

You can try Thumbtack, you'll get multiple contacts from companies looking to bid. Depending on quality of material and the size and pitch of your roof your probably looking at $10-$15 k for a typical 1200 sq ft house. Check their license and use common sense. http://search.ccb.state.or.us/search/

[Giron Roofing](http://www.gironroofingportland.com/) did the roof on my house. I recommend them wholeheartedly. They did a good job, quickly, at a very reasonable price. In the process they damaged a small tree, which I didn't even notice. They replaced the tree a week or so later. Six months later we discovered a roof-rat infestation in the attic. This was a really intractable problem, and it lasted a long time. We tried multiple pest control companies who could not fix the problem. We figured that it was related to the roof replacement -- either voids left from removing the old roofing material or possibly coming in through areas where ridge vents met each other. We contacted Giron, and they came back and found a few small gaps in the vents, plugged them at no charge. The problem went away. There was no push-back, or any kind of hassle; they just took care of it. Nice guys, too.

I just used Raindrop. They subbed out the work and I had some issues. The owner actually came out after everything was fixed and walked through everything. I was blown away at how hard it was to get a roofer that 1) Was not booked 4 months out 2) Was under $10 k for half my roof and 3) Would actually return a bid. We did the single story, standard pitch side of our house. Regular comp shingles, went from static cap vents to ridge vents. I did cut in my soffit vents myself to save a little money. IIRC it was about $8 k.

We used Cascade. It was about 5 k, but our house is tiny and mostly flat-ish. So far, so good! They did finish the job in one day, which was nice.

You mentioned that you have a condo. The ones I have had were the same in that anything on the outside was the condo association's responsibility -lawn work, siding, and the basic structure itself, including the **roof**. You're only responsible for the inside. **My advice is to call the HOA's president immediately.** Just to get it on record if nothing else. The HOA may already have something in place to deal with such emergency repairs.

I've had good experiences with Pioneer Roofing and Orion Roofing. Both work with flat roofs. Dunno if they do condo or weekend emergencies. If your HOA flat roof needs replacing, check into PVC. Neat product and super long life. IB Systems in Eugene makes it and has a lifetime warranty that's partially transferrable upon sale - at least for single-family dwellings.

I recently had my roof replaced through home depot this summer and as far as I can tell they did a good job. Honestly after having 5 companies bid they were in the middle price wise, but seemed the least sketch. They also gave me 2 year 0% financing. I said fuck off to debella exteriors and clear water. They both tried to over sell their products (easily twice as much as home depot) and give me discounts if a signed a contract that day with them. Finally in pushing them out they both have the line of "well my boss doesn't like it when I do this" and tried to sweeten the pot just a little bit more. Edit: I don't know if they do emergency work though.

Ask a real estate agent, maybe a commercial one since it's a flat roof. They have to deal with this sort of problem with inspections.

I've used Clow Roofing a couple of times for commercial jobs and was happy with their work. They're probably not open on the weekend, though. Good luck.

All Surface Roofing & Construction - www.allsurfacepdx.com. These guys are hands down the best and most ethical roofers in Portland. I too had a crappy roof with lots of problems. I too tried lots of random places with nice ads that ultimately let me down. These guys not only finally identified and fixed the real problem, they: * Were super professional, and provided a low pressure bid with verifiable facts. * Send actual employees to your house to do the work, not some random "contractors" with two hours experience that answered a Craigslist ad. * Keep you informed during the process. * Cleaned up after themselves - didn't just leave trash in the yard. * Are super competitive and fair pricing. * Also know flat roofs, which mystifies a fair amount of local "roofers". Don't take my word for it, check out their Yelp and Google reviews. All positive, zero negative reviews. Find me one other roofer with no negative comments. Side note: fuck Dial One Roofing. Bastards quoted me a full roof replacement because they couldn't find the source of a leak, 20% over market, and with sub-standard materials universally hated in online reviews.
