Dr Andrew Halpin at Bridgeview Dental in Rookwood (MSVU area) - he's seriously a really awesome dentist. He's really nice, his staff are so supportive, and their facilities are great. They're always taking new patients, and they have emergency services. I had a decayed tooth that was really starting to hurt a couple of months ago and was desperate to find a dentist in Halifax (as I was new to the area). I applied for an appointment on their website and got a response like 3 hours later. The next day I was in for an assessment (they have all the nice toys) and the day after I was in for an extraction. Bam. Done. Not only are they really professional and actually care about your health, they also do financing for those in need. Instead of having to apply for DentalCard they actually just set up a payment plan between you and the office, so there's no middle man. I really can't say it enough how happy I am with Bridgeview, its like the only place where you don't feel like they're after your money. You can get there on the 80/81 route (and a few others, 17/18 I think). Go see them, you won't regret it!

Spring Garden Dentistry is convenient as hell if you don't have a car, a block down Spring Garden from Robie.

Highly recommend Dr. Abbass in the Professional Building on Coburg/Robie. She's been my dentist for years and now a lot of my family go there.

Dr. Kate Brouwer at Mumford Dental (Halifax Shopping Centre area)---- is absolutely amazing. I had years of severe dental anxiety, to the point where I had panic attacks in the chair and avoided the dentist at all costs for several years… I couldn't even talk about teeth… I could barely manage touching my own teeth. After two appointments with Kate (a checkup, and a filling) I was able to drive myself to the clinic and I can even sleep normally the night before an appointment.

I recommend Dr. J. Arab O'Malley on the corner of Lacewood and Dunbrack. This dentist only cares if you have insurance. Her work is o.k. She does work that you don't need done. I went in to have fillings replaced and left without it being done. She found out how much coverage I had and decided to use it all. She should be investigated. Sounds like an adventure.

Ocean view in woodside. New facilities and they're very nice / helpful. Had wisdom teeth out and it was over before I realized they started.

Would recommend Scotia dental. Would not recommend bishops landing dental.

Also, avoid the guy at alderney. His staff tried to send me to a collections agency over $50 two years later and couldn't show me a bill or explain the charge. I asked the collections agency if he showed them a bill, cause I hadn't seen one. They never called back.

My dentist is in lower sackville, but he's absolutely worth making the trip for if you can manage it. He's known as the painless dentist, and he has definitely earned that title. I've had great luck with Dr. Seth at Bishop's Landing Dental: http://www.bishopslandingdental.com/ The guy's actually a dentistry prof at Dal, so he does this part of the time. His rates seem the same or possibly a little less than other HRM dentists, I haven't checked everything just compared rates with friends at other places. It's only him & the hygienist there. Always pretty relaxed, have had a fair amount of work done there & always been very happy.

(Coming up with actual short term and long term plans on how to correct stuff.) My girlfriend would highly recommend the Tantallon dentist, I think his name is Dr. Ian McAskill? She swears by him up and down, they've been able to work out payment plans as necessary, and I've never seen her as happy with a dentist.

Dr Brothers on Larry Utek is amazing but a bit pricy.

And, Dr Williams is available in emergencies. Her kids go to Basinview.
