Any folks in the area sew? Looking for someone who drafts patterns and would be willing to teach. I currently make some clothing from the 1860s so I do have knowledge of...

I have luck finding old patterns at Helping Hands. I use them for art projects unless they are truly vintage.

Mary Stimson/Rip N Stitch is an excellent seamstress and I'm pretty positive she used to make renaissance costumes. Her number is 479-531-7083.
Does anyone know where I can find pawpaws in this area? I'm developing a presentation for a local group and the topic is the historical cuisine of Bella Vista. I would...
Jill W. replied:
Les Magee, I will be giving this presentation for the first time at the end of September. If you want to discuss having me give this talk to your group after that, you can reach me at jill@bellavistavolunteers.com. When I started putting this together, I had a feeling I wasn't going to be doing it just once!
Jill W. replied:
The presentation, A Taste of Old Bella Vista, is for one of the Questers groups here in town, which means it's not open to the public. I will be providing tastings of a number of dishes that are authentic to earlier times here (from Indians on up), so I went down to War Eagle Mill yesterday to buy their coarse-ground corn meal and "open pan cooked" sorghum syrup. Afterward, I went over to Hobbs State Park visitor's center and ended up talking to the ranger. He was very interested in what I was doing and asked if I would give this presentation as part of their monthly workshop series. I won't be doing it for a year, so I have a bit of time left! One of the park staff gave me a couple of pawpaws that she had in her office, which she had just picked. I was hoping to find more, but I know how protective people are about pawpaws and other edible treasures!
