Thanks everyone for all the good tips. Justin Sell has the laptop and reports that we should all BEWARE of current China/India scams that appear boldly on the screen and freeze it up, saying to call an '800' number in order to remove a bad virus, etc. If your screen freezes up with something like this, turn the computer completely OFF and wait a few minutes before restarting. That'll take care of the SCAM.

On July 28, Kaspersky suggested users download the latest version before installing Windows 10. Not a good thing to know after the fact but I'm sure it can be re-installed after. https://blog.kaspersky.com/windows-10-compatibility/
