1) I saw someone post once about a camping class offered in Oregon for $30 where they teach basics of camping and provide the tent. Does anyone know what I'm talking...

I'm not sure about your first question, but can offer something for your second. We did a roadtrip, last year, to SE Oregon in our 2013 outback. We slept in the back on our big Agnes pads. And a few blankets. It was about the size of a full bed back there and wasn't too bad. We had our supplies packed in a few plastic storage totes(I think they were 30 gallons but could be wrong) and then had a cooler that we filled with ice as needed. We would hang a few towels around the windows if we wanted privacy at night and we kept a few cracked so there wasn't too much condensation in the mornings. My only complaint about it was I really wish you could open/close the hatch from the inside... It would have made it a lot easier to get in/out at night and in the mornings. We've also camped in it at a few trail heads... Here's some info (with a few pics) on our roadtrip: http://cjsjaunts.blogspot.com/2014/04/se-oregon-road-trip-44-47-2014.html?m=1

Here you go. My daughter and I did this last year at Wallowa Lake. Really enjoyed it. http://oregonstateparks.org/index.cfm?do=thingstodo.dsp_letsGoCamping
I'm driving from Boise to Bend today and picking up a bud at the Redmond airport tonight. Can anyone recommend a primitive camp spot between Bend and Redmond?

Check out the lineup from Ruffwear.com. I have a couple for my hound mix who always runs cold. Great fit and belly coverage.

Here’s what I did for my dog but bear in mind, I’m kind of a cheap bastard. I have 50 lb border collie that always hikes/camps with me. I went to a thrift store and for $3.00 bought a child’s down vest. If you put her front legs through the arm openings and the zipper over her back it fits perfectly. She remains very mobile and it’s got to be warm. I can’t imagine paying those prices for designer dog sweaters. She certainly hasn’t complained. Actually, it works great.
