Has anyone had successes or problems painting wooden cabinets? We're thinking of painting our wooden kitchen cabinets white, but a painter did not recommend it.

Might be worthwhile to consult someone who regularly works with wood in a wood shop -- actually, check out Brian's cousin Mike at Chesapeake Cabinet. He would be a fantastic resource for you!! Good luck!

Dunn Edwards advertises a line of paints for just that!

The painter we use for everything painted my friends blah oak cabinets white and it totally changed her kitchen - looks amazing. (You wouldn't know to look at them that they had been painted) Added new hardware and voila! And was well below $1000. Julia Wernett McInerny has huge success painting wooden furniture on her own - the Powers have not been as successful!

NO need to strip!! Use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. I have several friends who have used it with great results. It requires no prepping and no primer. It looks fantastic. Good luck!
